Use of the PM function.

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
Please sign on if you feel like I do that the PM function is an important and useful thing to our interaction at the NutRanch, especially for new members. That might keep it at the top of page one for a few hours and maybe some will feel moved to enable its use. For those so inclined, you'll need to left click the "profile" button and then check ON in the settings to allow private messages.

With over 8000 pm's sent and received, I disagree Al. image

I don't think I could make it here without the pm function. I have more of them than posts.

A man walks down the street, it's a street in a strange world.
Maybe it's the Third World or maybe it's his first time around.
He doesn't speak the language and he holds no currency.
He is a foreign man and he's is surrounded by the sound,
Cattle in the marketplace, scatterlings and orphanages.
He looks around, around and he sees angels in the architecture,
    Spinning in infinity!!!
    He says, Amen! and Hallelujah!

If you'll be my bodyguard I can be your long lost pal!
I can call you Betty and Betty, when you call me,
    You can call me Al!!!

Everyone should enable PMs, absolutely. There is no downside.

New members should realize that when they ask a question that might be sensitive ("Has anyone ever done business with Acme Coins in Swissvale, PA*?") some of the most informative answers might be sent to them via PMs. Without PMs enabled, they might not get all the information they could.

Al, with some of the long winded discussions that develop here, the chat function would be more useful for real time engagement. image

The PM function should stay optional, but I wish everyone knew how to enable it.

i have had PM's with each respondent thus far except:

etexmike----surprisingly, since our counts are so high.
mozin-----again, i thought for sure we had.
BryceM-----nkob, so i expect we will some day.

    i have solved that dilemma, PM's sent!!image

There are several members I'd like to PM, but they don't post much and their PM has never been set up.

I also think I have sent more PM's than posts to the threads.
