Would You Consider These Items To Be Identical

1970-S Lincoln Small Date PCGS PR68CAM (worth about $500)
1970-S Lincoln Large Date PCGS PR68DCAM (worth about $100)
I think they are different, but E-Bay says they are identical and won't allow me to sell both at the same time. Called and talked to 3 people and they say they fall under the duplicate listing policy because they are similar enough that it might be confusing to the casual E-Bay buyer. Maybe that's the real issue, buyers are stupid and can't figure it out.
I also pointed out the fake Indian Cent, but the person immediately washed their hands of that saying it wasn't their concern.
I think these guys are getting more and more abusive to sellers.

Ebay does allow at least two that I know of and you could list one in A and the second in B?

Or if one has any tone put ~Toned~ in it's title, and make the other ~Bright~.
Like you said you have make sure the children realize it is different coins.
The way I here E-Bay talking I can only list one 1970 Cent at a time, no matter what. Seems odd. I appear to be able to list multiple 2012 Silver Eagles with different grades, but I can't list cent's of the same date. I guess they view a Deep Cameo the same as a Cameo

I prefer their "no duplicate BIN listings." Unfortunate that they incorrectly see the OPs listings as duplicates. The same year, TPG and grade don't help. If the lables don't specifiy "large" and "small" date, then I can see ebay's point; if they do, then ebay is wrong.
The problem with combining similar graded coins in a single listing is that it causes one to violate ebay's other policy requiring an actual picture and certification number of each coin. Maybe the OP can use this to get two seperate BIN listings approved. The fact that graded coins have unique serial numbers prevents them from being identical.
I have forwarded a suggestion to my ebay rep that they treat graded coins with a unique serial number as not being similar items.

Nor are the two sides of coins....

I really do not understand James since just last week I listed two 1964-D Washington Quarters as Buy It Nows using "Sell Similar" to list both?
Not only that but eBay encourages folks to open eBay Stores and are they really too expect that a coin dealer doesnot have more than 1 of a particular coin to sell?
I just do not understand.

It's simple. People complained because they didn't like seeing multiples of the same item from one seller when they searched for stuff, so eBay did something about it.

They probably took action with James because someone reported the violation. In your case it probably was not reported. Unless of course they have now tweeked their "list your item" to automatically screen for similar items when trying to list.

They have I inadvertently listed the same item twice a couple of weeks ago and got a big red letter warning when I hit submit your listing.

If they have the same grade, otherwise they are not similar items. That seems to be their current policy, but I'll be danged if I can find it on their site.

<< <i>This is just the sort of thing you can expect as long as people keep insisting that eBay *Do Something* to protect innocent buyers from- well, stuff. >>
There was a legitimate problem with identical listings back in the days when a single sellers listing for the same item at the same price would encompass an entire page or more of search results. As usual though Ebay chose to kill a fly with a dumb bomb instead of a flyswatter.
No way someone complained and they acted that fast on a Sunday morning.
Had to be a bot program.
But the question still lingers, can you list 2 similar coins with different grades. These 2 coins had different grades as well. If that's true, then you have an Ike in PR68 and one in PR69 and you can't list them both??? Sure seems odd to me.

"Removing more duplicate listings. Now Auction-style listings with the Buy It Now option will be considered duplicates to Fixed Price listings or to other Auction-style listings with the Buy It Now option for identical items. Also, sellers shouldn't list duplicate Auction-style listings, as duplicate Auction-style listings may be removed. Only items that do well when sold in an Auction-style format—hard-to-find or high-demand items, for example—and sell nearly 100% of the time should be listed in duplicate. If you're unsure of how your items will sell, create one listing at a time."

Right, you can list them seperate for AUCTION format, but not for fixed price buy-it-now. Why?? Stupid rule i quess!
(sometimes it is funny to see a bunch of bidders for a single item , and if they would only scroll down the screen, they would find another one with zero bidders?!)
