Shout Out To Manofcoins (Craig Norris) and Monster 56' Washington

I hope Craig (Manofcoins) doesn't mind me giving him a major "shout out" here on the boards.
I found this amazing 1956 quarter raw in 2011, and knew Craig was rebuilding his Washington Set so I offered it to him (Currently #2 In the Registry).
It graded PCGS MS67 first time through, but I felt it was going to quickly be upgraded to 67+ which would have been the top pop at the time, so Craig agreed to compensate me 50% of the value in the event it upgraded. He recently upgraded it and is sending me compensation, SEVEN YEARS later. This seems to deserve recognition, and is seriously upstanding, in my opinion. Thank you Craig.
I'd like my copper well done please!

HAPPY COLLECTING
And gradeflation marches onward...
Nonetheless it's a great coin and coppercolor and MOC are great guys so....
OMG !!!
Craig is good people.
While gradeflation may be marching on, in the case of this coin, it is not. More like it is being properly recognized and graded.
The coin was memorable enough that of the thousands of mint set washingtons I've held, this one stands out as one of just a few shot MS68's. Also memorable enough that I recognized it at a glance many years after I last saw it even though the current coinfacts image downplays the coin and almost disguises it.

Well, that’s fantastic, but I want to see the reverse too!!

Classic mint set beauty.
An upgrade in this atmosphere is a singular accomplishment, and speaks to the clear quality and attractiveness of that coin. Congratulations, Craig, and thanks for the post, Coppercolor!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
Thanks for the very positive message on a fellow forum member. I really like seeing posts of this nature. We have a great group of people on this forum, and the reports such as this make being a member here a point of pride. Cheers, RickO
What really made the coin stand out is that it deviates from the common attractive blue/purple toning which we are used to seeing come from original double mint sets. Last night I tried to find an image of this coin in the wild, which too, came from a double mint set but it stood out like a sore thumb in the middle of a group of bright blue roosies, washingtons and Franklins. It actually toned more like a 56D in nature but without the tan haze that particular date/mint mark is known to come with when it has nice color. This is the kind of coin that made wonder if the planchet somehow deviated from other 56P's in that maybe it missed being washed before being struck or something of the nature. In hand the coin has an amazing luster pushing out from emerald green and fuzzy peach colored surfaces. How many 56P's has anyone seen like this?
Way cool thread
