Jos. H. Merriam, Boston. MA115E-2b, New addition!
Here's a great new addition to my collection of tokens and medals of Joseph H. Merriam. Just acquired from Q. David Bowers as he continues to liquidate his vast treasure trove.
MA115E-2b. Jos. H. Merriam Storecard/ "Not" One Cent. Boston, MA. PCGS MS64 (EX. Bowers/ Hartzog)
This one is a lot harder to locate than one might think. Seemingly, this brass civil war token was produced in smaller quantities than the copper issue, which is scarce in it's own right. When one becomes available, it is usually encountered with issues. All the ones I've passed on have been spotted, scratched, bruised and battered.
This piece is exceptional!
It joins the collection next to MA115E-2a, which resides in a NGC MS65RB holder (ex. George Fuld, Steve Tanenbaum)
Thinking about sending this to PCGS for crossover/Trueview.
