What selling venue will I get most money for my PCGS and NGC coins? Anonymous poll. Assume mid level

I have tried them all and still can't decide what is the biggest bang for my buck. So what selling venue do you think will bring the most dollars for PCGS and NGC coins? Anonymous Poll. Assume mid level coins under $1000

You could offer me the piece that I asked you about previously and avoid all third party fees!

If you have a few coins to sell with decent pictures try the BST first. If you have a lot of coins to sell and you value your time I’d consign with GC. Ian will also send your coins off to CAC. You pay the $14 submission fee and Ian pays for shipping and handling.
If you have a toned monster or two, I’m in.

With big auctions mid level coins tend to be overlooked because the great rarities get all of the attention. eBay comes with it's own problems. I trust my dealer, he has very low margins and is fair and honest.
Try listing 10 coins on the BST and see how that pans out. Give your fellow forumites a chance at some nice coins. If that doesn't work, I would recommend GC. Best of luck. Ebay is flat one week and hot the next and sometimes nothing goes for a month.

Maybe someone should start an auction called "Mediocre Collections." That could include a lot of nice but readily available coins.
I've been selling out. Just my experience: I don't mean the disparage the company, the service or the personnel, but I got massacred on 3 successive GC auctions since January. I've done much better on Ebay.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I was the first who voted Ebay!....that is ebay Buy it now and hold your ground! Ebay auctions are a crap shoot....unless you have something no one else has and seldom comes to market....9 times out of 10 you will get killed!
Different places for different coins.
Oops, missed the 1000 assumption. GC for fast and flawless.
They already have this, it's called eBay
I agree with amwldcoin....eBay is good for broader exposure as well as (still) a reasonable fees
Yup, try it here first !!!
depending on what you're selling there are advantages to all the choices. to use my collection in arriving at a sale strategy I would use several venues. I'd start with my local dealer for the generic/raw type of stuff, BST for some stuff that I know members here are interested in and the bulk in a larger auction venue like Heritage or Stack's.
the advantage in the Heritage/Stack's choice is simple: probable good prices and all over in one known sale.
Massacred is a strong word - have you checked your results from 4/29? Two of your coins are featured in this week's CoinWorld ad for the high prices they achieved!

I would say BST first, then GC... ebay can be good but a fair amount of work and potential hassle...Cheers, RickO
I would start with posting here on the BST first.

Unless it's an ultra rare coin....eBay is the way to go.
Tit-for-tat!
It would be a more fair comparison if the total selling price of all coins was listed compared to the total bid price, for instance. I sold $10000 (minus the fees) of coins and the bid was $20000 total for all coins. (Which in my mind would be a massacre!)
Could you expand on this. Are you saying that your coins sold on GC for $20,000 (including BP) and you netted a total of $10,000? If so, how many coins and in what price range? If that were 10 coins or 100 coins, I would expect a difference.

To be fair to @ianrussell and every other commercial venue, it is not really fair to simply compare your yield (or, worse, profit) to the hammer price. The real comparison is to the possibly unknown results in a different venue.
To try and clarify, if I sell a coin on BST for $100, I net maybe $90 [shipping + PayPal fees]. If I were to sell that same coin on GC and it sold for $200 (BP included) but I got a check for $100 net, that's a win! GC, CAC, USPS, PayPal etc. might well have split $100 but I got more in my pocket.
The reason Heritage or Stack's or GC exist is to make money. The reason they continue to exist is because (presumably) they provide greater exposure and get higher prices than would be the case in a different venue.
You also have to factor your time and effort into the equation, which is even harder to do.
Now, that said, Heritage is NOT the best place for a $50 widget. GC might not be the best place for a $50 widget. But it might take me longer to sell the $50 widget on eBay (for example) than on GC even if I end up netting $42 on eBay rather than say $35 or $40 on GC.
And, lastly, if you put a coin in a GC or Heritage or Stacks auction and think it is worth $1000 and it sells for $800 and you net $600...maybe it really isn't worth $1000. And if you absolutely, positively insist on getting the $1000 then put it on eBay or BST yourself and wait as many years as it takes to get your $1000. If you don't control the sale venue, then you really can't control the sale price. And your idea of worth is not (necessarily) the same as the market's value of worth.

Wooooha! Did someone just say it's officially "TACO™" Tuesday????
I was, and remain, deliberate about not disparaging your company. I've been an admirer, and have long believed you all provide a terrific and honest service.
I haven't seen the CoinWorld ad, but it may have referred to two high-graded classic Commems. I'm sure we all agree that the market has been in decline for these in particular, which obviously is not the fault of GC, And compared to what I had in those (and other) coins, "massacred" seemed an apt description. My issue, though, and not yours.
My point was, at least in my experience from the beginning of the year, I've been able to do measurably (although obviously not extraordinarily) better on Ebay than in other venues, I suspect because of the wider audience Ebay affords.

I only have used ebay to sell coins (primarily because you all won't buy my stuff), but getting back to the original part of the question.... timing is a big deal in my view for selling
