Bourbon and Coins - Perfect Combination

As I sit sipping a new bourbon I'm trying out (Angel's Envy - on sale for $42), I am reflecting on our favorite pastimes and drinking a good bourbon is high on my list of things to do. Although, as I sip this fairly expensive brand, I don't think it's of the same drinkability as my go to Tin Cup (around $23) which is so easy to drink. I tend to like the sweeter stuff (think Maker's Mark) with a little ice.
Anyway, I do enjoy imbibing while looking at a coin from my small collection now and then. Something about the combination of the senses of examining an old coin, reflecting on its history and manufacture, while your palette is being tickled with a smoky taste with a kick that permeates one's nostrils, is just "oh so fine".
So, with that introduction, here is the coin at hand (in an OGH) with super size images courtesy of the CRO photographer:
So, join me tonight and post what you're drinking (or share a favorite bourbon) and a coin you wish to examine at the same time!

My bourbons of choice are Knob Creek with a small ice cube and Wild Turkey 101 in Manhattans. I used to like Maker's Mark and still order it in restaurants, Wild Turkey is my choice for the mixed drink at home.
Thank you for the invite...

More of a rum guy myself but I have Eagle Rare and knob creek on hand for guests.
Love that half cent!
Threads like this make me sad that I don't keep my collection at home.
Edited to add that maybe I should keep a flask in my SDB...

Such a fun topic! I love a snort and perusal of my coins. I prefer Jim Beam Black of late, although MM is good and for full perfumed flavor try Rebel Yell I have not heard of Tin Cup!
I finally filled this hole in my Whitman album. The price was right, especially with my coupon! Cheers!

My cabinet contains Makers Mark , Knob Creek and Rock Town right now.
It’s interesting how much liquor we have in the house considering how little we drink. Liquor stores are like coin shops and gun shops to me.
Well you gentlemen, it's Saturday night. Break into the bar and not only tell me what you're drinking, but post a coin!

MM usually, but I've had that Angel Hair stuff.
Coins and booze are a bad mix if you are shopping for the coins on eBay while you are drinking.
...how the hell was I the first to like this OP, what’s the matter with hitting the Like button fellas?...gotta enjoy it while you can before it gets swallowed up by the metoo movement and becomes unacceptable to press Like on the internet without being persecuted and perma-labeled a harasser
...I quit doing the booze a couple years back but I encourage anyone and everyone around me to do it, and lots of it...I’ll post a picture of the next drink I get but I just had a venti Iced White Moca from Starbucks and I’m on fire but only because I’m Alive
It’s not such a good combination when bidding

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I try real hard to not drink and post I always get in trouble !
I am a single malt scotch person, but I did buy a Whistlepig on Friday. It’s very good.
Started with a couple of Yuengling's but going to switch to some Makers Mark over ice and a splash of water.

I could never get into the single malts. My scoch of choice is is Johnnie Walker Black, except when I am splurging and then it's Johnnie Walker Blue.
More of a beer guy myself...currently enjoying a Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro
I like Angel's Envy, good choice! I've also tried and liked the following:
Bookers (130 proof, whoo!), Two Star (way better than that name), Giant (small batch from TX) pus a few others. Lots of good competition out there!

Tonight I am enjoying Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey. Woodford also produces a collectible series of Kentucky Derby bottles which many collectors on this forum might find of interest. My regular is Old grand Dad which cannot be distinguished from Basil Hayden's at about half of the price. I also collect the whiskeys produced by Orphan Barrel which are all limited editions, with the best example being their Blow Hard, a 31 YO that is no longer available........love the name. Should have bought a case for gifts to friends.
But missed an auction bid last night as I hit the delete instead of "place bid" button for a nicely toned 1936 toned Lincoln proof on a GSC auction. The whiskey might have saved me on that one.......OINKhb
May I ask the invite be extended to lady collectors as well?
Guessed I am here already uninvited

I 'liked Vodka wayyy too much, and put the plug in the jug back in '89. That being said, I'm spending a few moments on the forum looking at some awesome coins and enjoying the posts written by folks I've come to (mostly) like... Me and my wife Just finished off a nice medium rare filet Mignon with baked potato and asparagus off the grill, and carrot cake for dessert... I guess that's my indulgence, now.

I'm a light weight. Bourbon kicks my tail really fast. Last night, I was sorting images and having a bit of Vodka. The image is a perfect match to the coin. You can tell who was kind enough to pass the coin on to me.

I have a bottle of Jim Beam and bottle of Canadian Reserve.
As far as whiskey Crown Royal my fav.
My preference is a good Cabernet Sauvignon.... The rich smoothness goes well with coins and makes for mellow reflections on history - very relaxing, and transports one away from current events and issues for a pleasant respite. Cheers, RickO
Merlo red than to bed.:)
I shall have to try Angel's Envy. I have lately been drinking Four Roses single barrel but I also enjoy Eagle Rare and Woodford Reserve.
Usually my go-to "everyday" bourbon is American Prairie Bourbon from the High West distillery in Utah.

Jack Daniels is my regular whiskey, but I also enjoy some of the others previously mentioned, including Makers Mark, Woodford Reserve and naturally Buffalo Trail.
$42 is a great price for it. My cost is around mid/high 30's in Long island NY. Anyhow, have you try the cask strength?

Great choice of Japaneses whisky. My source told me any Japanese whisky 17yrs and up are in shortage due to tsunami in Japan a while back.
A small selection of what I kept underneath my counter and reserved for customers who would appreciate them.

I would love to find a bottle, but it’s never available!

Well last night was a Ricard Pastis with 3 ice cubes for sippin'. Tonite having my wife's Margarita - Camarena Tequila, Grand Marnier, and lime juice, along with the ham and gruyere crepes I will make. Scotch and bourbon just too strong for my stomach.... Nice half cent catbert. Here is a sister of your stunning 53-O half!
Best, SH
Drinking while ebaying is dangerous.
420ing while ebaying can be profitable.
Before this liquor guy (me) close the shop for the day. I would like to recommend Basil Hayden's bourbon for around $30.
Crown and Makers Mark for me. I just can't see spending huge sums on whiskey.
Right now though I'm drinking Mic-Lite & tomato Juice mixed in a frozen mug . . .

Slam down Jim Beam. Place insane bet(s). Win coin(s). Pay invoice IMMEDIATELY! Receive coins in mail. Enjoy coin(s). Don't look back. I've earned it. Works for me. Be HAPPY!
I, as a professional consideration, do not combine the two. However, right now I’m back home after a long week at our Member’s Only show in NOLA and sipping on a Bulleit bourbon (although I’m a big fan of Maker’s Mark).
Drink (and eBay) responsibly, everyone!

I tend to lean toward Canadian whisky myself - Crown is a staple along with several others.
For those near a Costco that carries liquor, their Kirkland brand Canadian whiskey for about $18 per 1.75 liter bottle is a wonderful value and tastes better than most. In my neck of the woods, that is about a $35 per bottle savings vs crown. (For the scotch lovers, my wife loves the Kirkland blend - also about $18 per 1.75)

Looks like you need to go on a shopping spree! Most of those bottles are almost empty....except the Jack Daniels!
