"Experts also had to ensure it was not one of the three coins known to already be in existence, after one was stolen in 1968 from the Du Pont family – one of the wealthiest families in America – and never recovered."

And just how do they know it is not the Du Pont coin?

NGC had to review the auction pictures from 1962 (?) where the Dupont coin
    came from.

Of course, the same misdiagnosis happened to the "missing" 1913 Liberty nickel that, it turns out, was never actually missing.

Such an interesting story. And I’ll bet it will get even more interesting.

I still want to know the backstory on this coin... where was it all these years? Did the person who has it, buy it? So much more to this story.... Cheers, RickO

The auction pictures suck. Unless they had currently unseen photos of the DuPont coin a definitive view on the provenance is nearly impossible.

Logically which is more likely, A) This is a newly discovered coin taking the population from three to four, or B ) This is the DuPont coin doctored to appear different from the horrible auction photos.

I think we need law enforcement to raid & confiscate this coin to allow Mueller time to link the Russians / Trump for Indictments. I am sure he can get a confession or plea bargain.
