It was so terribly undergraded that it burned a hole right through the slab.

There are times when the plastic gets in the way of appreciating the coin.....this might be one of them.
A little auto polish should clean that right up.

Must have picked that up at a fire sale!!
That's been posted before...
As I recall the story was the collector briefly stored it in the microwave & forgot to retrieve it prior to the microwave being used.
Shame it wasn't stored in the toaster oven as it might have toned a bit more
That is on fire!
@Broadstruck Had no idea this was posted before but I recently saw this and had to post it. Apparently your right, it was put in the microwave and he/she forgot about it.....yikes!

No, but I think it might go down by 63 points.
Oh boy, terrible !!!
That's nuts, who just turns on a microwave without opening it and putting something in?
I wonder if it toasted the microwave!
As I recall it was hidden in the microwave so it must not have been seen under the rotating tray?
I wonder if they removed the coin? Being plastic, acetone would remove the residues...not sure what the coin would look like though.... It may well be out there in a 64 slab right now...

Cheers, RickO
That is so bad ... I can even smell it!

What’d you do spill your drink on it?
I'll PM you with instructions on how to properly crack a slab.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Why was it getting nuked?

Probably heating up food. The slab was under the rotating tray

If not upgrade to 66, definitely to 666.

a coin that has cancer?
Hide it under a lawnmower?
THAT could very well be a certified Dinosaur Scab . From the right buyer it might be a perfect 70+ grade and be worth $2 Billion .
Good luck ! PT might smile at you soon.
Next time don't piss her off.
Hoard the keys.
That's HOT !
Well --- it wasn't a 1932 $20.
When I first saw this I thought what a cool old holder anti-crack device feature that went off like an airbag

Crack it out and sell it to Marburger as Unc,ED
Got any five-year-olds around?
Ok, I'll bite,
Why was it in the microwave in the first place?

I hide my stash of fireworks in the oven, maybe I should rethink that...
Will CAC still buy this sight unseen? I mean it still has the gold bean on it and the cert number should be legible.
Buy the coin, not the holder
Not for many, MANY years.
OP - did you mean 3 centigrades?
(I'll see myself out)
it would be interesting to see the coin now. do we have a photo?
List it on Ebay without photos!
That's unfortunate.

look at the burn pattern side by side with the indian $10. you can see the high points are blacker and there is a definite outline of the relief in the plastic. i bet the coin can be fixed because it's gold.
also, it's time we call BS on this microwave hiding place story. i agree with @landlord ... why would some do that? i think some one did it purposely.
i also agree with @ricko the coin is probably ok and worth close to the same amount it was away without the holder and sticker.
I hope he enjoyed his mac and cheese.
