There are times when the plastic gets in the way of appreciating the coin.....this might be one of them. :anguished:

    That's been posted before...

As I recall the story was the collector briefly stored it in the microwave & forgot to retrieve it prior to the microwave being used.

Shame it wasn't stored in the toaster oven as it might have toned a bit more ;)

As I recall it was hidden in the microwave so it must not have been seen under the rotating tray?

I wonder if they removed the coin? Being plastic, acetone would remove the residues...not sure what the coin would look like though.... It may well be out there in a 64 slab right now... :D:D:D Cheers, RickO

Good luck ! PT might smile at you soon.

Will CAC still buy this sight unseen? I mean it still has the gold bean on it and the cert number should be legible. :p

    That's unfortunate.

  • stevebensteveben Posts: 4,635 ✭✭✭✭✭

look at the burn pattern side by side with the indian $10. you can see the high points are blacker and there is a definite outline of the relief in the plastic. i bet the coin can be fixed because it's gold.

also, it's time we call BS on this microwave hiding place story. i agree with @landlord ... why would some do that? i think some one did it purposely.

i also agree with @ricko the coin is probably ok and worth close to the same amount it was away without the holder and sticker.
