Toned Peace Dollar from old 2X2 Envelope... Reminds me of an old thread

BlindedByEgoBlindedByEgo Posts: 10,754 ✭✭✭✭✭

When I pulled this Peace Dollar out, memories of Anaconda and a long-ago visit to Long Beach flooded back. I've had this coin for over 25 years, and got it from a dealer notorious for dipping everything in sight - he said that his buyers wanted "nice, shiny coins" and toning was not a big thing in his circle.

Back in 2006, I was at Long Beach and visited Brandon - he showed me an NGC graded toned Peace Dollar. Hilarity ensued both at the show and on this board. Truth was that I thought that a box of Crayolas had puked on the coin, but all I could say at the time was "if NGC says it's NT..." If you want to kill an afternoon reading an interesting old thread, check this out (can't seem to make the old linky thing work):

Nice coin . . . Looks NT to my old eyes.
Interesting old thread. When going back and reading these old threads, it's striking the number of members that have been Bammed and all the folks that are no longer with us.

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I'm kind of surprised - you were really active back then, especially the OFR.

@BlindedByEgo .... Yes... I was active....and I did like the OF... However, I was not as active as many others, and that was reflected when we went to the new software... all OF posts were lost.... I do not recall the exact amount I lost... I did post that here back then...but it was around 2 or 3 thousand...I think. Cheers, RickO

If I remember, the other coin was target toned and one of the rings was a florescent lime green.
