A first for me; 18th century US coin

clarkbar04clarkbar04 Posts: 4,961 ✭✭✭✭✭

Got tired of looking at beat up and overpriced bust dollars and had been looking at this for a while. It is graded F12 by ngc, O108a.

Always loved these and couldn't find anything that bugged me about it.

(Sellers pics)

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

That is a nice looking, circulated coin with not defects. It is remarkeable when you can find a 220 + year old coin that has no spots or scratches.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

How about a new grade- "Very Choice Fine"? ;)

IMO the coin has a perfect look for the grade. Well done.

    Kind of like a MS70 F12!

Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

That's an outstanding way to start. There's something magical about seeing that 17xx.

  • Amazing coin. So many have major defects from that era.

What did Lord Marcovan call these? Circulation Cameos?

You always impress me with your coin purchases. True early Americana and I love it.
