Take more SeroVital or Coin Viagra as suggested and avoid taking too much of this

I slept through 16 items ending. All slabbed cents nickels dimes quarters 10 bucks or less per and combined shipping. NGC and PCGS 65 or higher.

This is the stuff I need to buy for stock (a bike ride for 5 bucks is worth it to me). More are coming midweek. I hope my PayPal balance feels better by then. I kinda don't.

Sounds to me like it's time to change your username here on the forum if that is really how you feel. Oooooohhh.....before the forum special police get all excited...ok, Got the bug....must be referring to either getting a stomach virus or buying a VW Beetle. No inference at all to a collecting bug. Carry on as usual. Back to your regular scheduled programming on the forum of gtg's and ebay bashing.

    Chance favors the prepared mind.

As a retired professional photographer I can say that the best way to screw up a hobby is to do it for a living. Take a break, it may help.

For me it was just the opposite. I enjoyed handling pieces I had never owned before, an it was a pleasure to be able to sell duplicates and items in which I had interest so very easily.

As for now, I'm ready to go into another phase in my collecting. I gearing up to head for the dark side.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

And @CCGGG...I never get tired of gun shows... just too much variety and, much like coins, a lot of stuff that, although I do not want, is neat to handle and look at. Cheers, RickO

I think what turned me off on gun shows (really not trying to judge here) but some of the people at the shows just didn't "seem" to have any "good" business buying or selling guns and it was starting to make me uncomfortable. Actually only really noticed it at the smaller shows. Makes me understand the current discussion on universal background checks a little better. Sorry, but that's the way I see it "even" as a Life member of the NRA!

@CCGGG... No problem... I have seen a few of those myself....but realized two things...One, even if I were not there, they would be there. Two, by being there, I could (and did) alert security to a couple of individuals... and they were removed. This was at a large gunshow... the smaller one's, at least here, also have local police as security, and I have not seen such obviously seedy characters...though, as we all know, some books look good until you start to read them. ;) I am also NRA - Benefactor Member. Although there are private sales at some gun shows, all others MUST have a background check for all firearm sales.... In NYS, even private sales at gun shows require the NICS check....And it is OK to see it your way... we are not robots -yet... :D;) Cheers, RickO

So, thanks everyone so far for suggestions, empathy and photos, etc., and for the PM featuring the (ahem) Bust quarter. I'm still chuckling about that one.

So anyhow, along the lines of doing something different, I went to a pinball museum yesterday and played pinball for 6 hours, 'til my arms about fell off. It's about 1.5 hours from where I live and a good catharsis for whatever ails me, whether it's a bad day on the job, or a rainy day. I stopped at a B & M on the way and looked through a box of 2 x 2's of Canadian coins, mostly junk. It could very well be that my enthusiasm is hiding in the same place where all the decent coins are hanging out, because I can't find any of them either!

The simple solution to your problem would be to stop watching "Curb Your Enthusiasm" episodes.

Also, dream about owning one of these:

If you lost your enthusiasm, I think I know who found it - its the guy who keeps posting pictures of his pocket change and insisting that they are all doubled dies. :#

If you are a collector at heart then you wont stay away long. Maybe its time to find a niche that is under-appreciated or even ignored altogether. That will make every new find an exciting discovery.

Due to the market being in the tank I feel down in the dumps as well.

I have decided to remain inventory neutral for the time being. I have moved many coins at retail this month doing well but this could be due to eBay bucks. The last show I set up at was such a disaster / loss and waste of time. No more for now. After going thru hundreds of notes, A guy picks out $6 of inexpensive currency asking “what can u do for me on this.” I fudged it down to $5 and we finished the deal.

What is happening is many are selling out and there is not enough money coming in to replace that. Until the bids start upward movement or bullion way up the only thing is enjoy the good buys.

Like @ricko I have several different hobbies, so if coins get boring, I'll focus on my antique silver or pottery collections.

Taking a break can't hurt. If coins are in your blood, you'll be back. :)

I came back to coins after a 25 year break for this reason. I started losing my enthusiasm for my PSA graded Nolan Ryan cards. Doing that not only gave me something else to focus on, but it also reinvigorated my interest in my Nolan Ryan collection.

I think finding a second interest may do the same for you.

@GotTheBug I must admit I've run into a bit of the doldrums myself.

Maybe offload a few no-longer-desired coins to a YN, and see the light that shines in their eyes...... May be re-invigorated by passing on the bug to the next generation, until you regain the bug yourself.

"Will I have to be sure to tell my doctor if I'm allergic to SeroVital or ready for diarrhea, nausea, upper respiratory tract infection, tension headache, and death?"

I think he'll tell you that the surest way to avoid those symptoms is to stay away from coin dealers.
