If I recall correctly, US Coins prior to 1836 were struck by screw presses.
Since I have a freshly graded one to share, please share one of yours.
This was passed down through extended family and always raw until last week.
It was kept in a small wood box with many other coins, packed in tissue.
It is now PCGS VF25.

That is a nice half dollar.
Nice coin. I like these early bust halfs at the VF level. Each one seems so unique.
This is the 1808/7 (O-101) which graded at VF30.

I should have stated mine is a recent counterfeit!
When I bought this 1797 half dime in the early 1980s, I described it is the finest example of this coin in Fine-12. Finding these coins in a well circulated grade without problems is very difficult. As a group the 1796-7 Draped Bust, Small Eagle half dimes are the rarest among the early half dimes. Of course this piece is now in a VF-20 holder.
Nice coins... and really nice gold coins....Cheers, RickO
