Okay, here's the situation. You can have a million dollars worth of PCGS/CAC coins. FREE! Cuz you're a swell person.
We all know that a single coin could bring that or more.
But, for purposes of the poll, the limit is a million bucks worth of coins (or coin)

Soooo...... being that they're free and it's my poll, you have to select EITHER ..... gold.... or.. silver..... coins to comprise your fantastic gift.

So go ahead and do so. :)

(Oh, you gotta keep the gift for ...hmm... 10 years.)

A million dollars worth of PCGS/CAC coins.

I can't have a million dollars in steel cents? ;)

I went with silver, only because that's where my collecting interests are. It's not a commentary on my prediction of metal prices....

(Edited to change "steal" to "steel".....so that 5 other people don't feel compelled to point it out). :)

I voted silver because that is where my collecting interest is also. :)B)

I went with silver because of the sheer volume I would get.

I went with gold because now I can score my high-grade octagonal Pan-Pac $50 and still have ~$750k left to blow... er, spend. Hold on, I have to call Doug Winter and tell him to start sourcing an 1854-S $2.50 now.

Not that I would chose copper but you are leaving out a pretty significant option...

Interesting experiment for the next Long Beach show: PCGS Set Registry gives you free Early Bird entry and $1 million voucher good for purchase of gold or silver PCGS coins (not both!) (and no copper, either, EAC members!).

I think you'd see an interesting case study in hyperinflation, like it would take a generic MS63 Indian $2.50 to buy a hot dog.

I would take the silver and crack them all out and put them in a mint canvas bag in my garage. I am worried about rats so I would sprinkle sulfur around to keep the varmits away.

To be fair, a million dollars worth of coins sold in ten years would not fetch one million dollars. You might get 750K. Coin collecting is like a torrid extramarital affair: You get the excitement, but you get burned in the end.

So are you implying that you would not accept a Million Dollars in PCGS/CAC Graded coins..................FOR FREE ???

I voted gold but in reality I'd like both.

A nice set of AU $3s for about $250,000 and a set of EF Seated Dollars with the other $750.00 if I could fine a 70-S in EF for under $600.000.

Since they will be CAC stickered coins, I would take the silver. Gold CAC coins are often maxed out in price.
    Example:

Common 1881-S Morgan Dollar graded MS66 is $185 and with a CAC sticker can still be bought for under $200

Common 1924 St. G. $20 graded MS66 is $1,990 and with a CAC sticker will run you $3,600 to $3,800

All of my numerous favorite coins are made of silver.

The only gold coins that I like are the Saint and possibly the ten dollar Indian.

Gold because it's been my major point of interest over the last few years, but U.S. and British.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I went with silver(would have preferred nickel), just because there are so many silver coins I am interested in and would take immediately with out much thought. Never bought but a couple of gold pieces and never really was able to surmount the cost.
