oih82w8oih82w8 Posts: 12,303 ✭✭✭✭✭

I picked this one up at the ANA in Irving a couple weeks ago and wanted to see what the CU Members had to say about her in comparison to our host.

Thank you for your interest and comments!

Yesterday an MS-63. Today an MS-64. The combination of the marks next to her jawbone and the hairlines in the right obverse field bring it down to the MS-63 level IMO.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Sweet coin.

    MS-65 is my guess.

Overall a MS-63 but the obverse marks are very distracting to me.

unless that is die polish on lower obverse right field, I am going to go with UNC details scratch - but I hope I am wrong for you.

I'll go 64 but find the tic-tac-toe type scratches in front of the chin distracting.

58 would have been my guess, but I didn't want to be a downer.

On the Reverse, besides the arc scratch? between HALF and DOLLAR, the reverse looks pretty nice! The obverse has way too much contact to be called mid-MS as many have said. The lower right field looks like it might even have a tic tack toe board, the face/neck/jaw marks etc, then the luster breaks on the hat etc.... This could be anything from Genuine-(CLEANED-GRAFFITI-SCRATCH-ETC), AU or low MS. Hard to really say since we can't see everything in one photo.
