question about CDN greysheet

PTVETTERPTVETTER Posts: 5,977 ✭✭✭✭✭

There has been some talk about the greysheet going to a monthly publication.
Now what about those that paid for the weekly ?
What do you think is going to happen?

They might offer the chance to have subscriptions extended until cost is covered???

Sometimes change is not so good!
Now that ANYONE can buy it should the name be changed to something like a price guide.
More and More dealers are moving away from the CDN .

I just buy a single issue twice a year. Coin collecting pretty much moves at a snails pace and prices don't change that often so 2 issues a year is more than enough.

PS: I'm not a dealer and I have been buying the greysheet for years, you never had to be a dealer to buy one. It is a great tool. I love pulling it out in the middle of the Monroeville show and watching dealers get all bent out of shape. For the record I have not paid above greysheet bid for a collectable coin in over 4 years. The bid prices on most items are high, not too hard to find stuff 25-30% back of bid in todays market.

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

Couple times a year works for me. I only use it as a secondary source.

Where have you been hearing this?

There are already different weekly, monthly and quarterly publications. Are you saying it will strictly be monthly in the future?

Yes. It appears all types, monthly weekly and quarterlies, and even the bluesheet will become one big fat monthly publication.

I have to laugh when they cite confusion as a "problem" this will eliminate. Come on. You have earned big bucks, you spend big bucks on coins and can't memorize what series, are priced in what sheet. And it never changes. Morgan's and proof and mint sets in weekly , early bust and seated type up through quarters in Q1. Halves and dollars in Q2. Etc.

Oh well. I guess we have to give it a chance

FWIW, we think this is going to be CHANGE FOR THE BETTER. The frustrations subscribers have with the crazy Greysheet publishing cycles are legion. Our support staff has trouble explaining it but there are many positives other than this. Starting in May with our new "Monthly Greysheet", all Greysheet coin listings will be included in a single publication. This INCLUDES Bluesheet and CAC pricing. All together for the first time in an organzied format that I can't wait to use myself.

@DontTellTheWife many of us long timers in the biz know the strange patterns of the GS, but we need to attract new people to the hobby. Yes, CDN needs the subscribers, but subscribers become more informed coin buyers, which is net positive.

The new Monthly Greysheet (start in May) will have every series listed - most with 10-13 grade columns! We will be able to adjust dated gold on a monthly basis rather than every 3 months, and much more. I hope everyone will reserve judgement until it comes out.

    Thanks!
