    Well there's plenty of common date/mink holed gold dollars out there but not nearly as many C or D mint ones.

    Are you only looking for rare dates and/or mints?

    Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

    It's a good thing the hole is where it is. If it had gone above Ms. Liberty's head, it would have taken out the mint mark. Perhaps that was reason why it was placed there.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Glad to see the hole located where it is.... as BillJones noted, just a tad over and the mint mark would have been lost...So, you are building a holey gold collection? Cheers, RickO

    I need 11 or so more to have the set holed. Some of those I have plugged and want to replace. Some are love-tokens, jewelry, or ex-jewelry. 78 is the closest one to common that I am looking for. 3 P, 1 C, 5 D, and 2 S are the mints I want. Here is one holed closer to 12:00.
