Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Reminds me of buy the best you can afford and also using PATIENCE when buying In order to find a quality example.
I was told by a mentor long ago to take my time.
I must add--FOCUS on a series and gain the KNOWLEDGE first. Also, find a mentor or trusted dealer.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

My 1st advise is "Buy the Book"! 3 Words!
I thought it was gonna be "fuhget about it"....
Good answer. And from the coins I have seen of yours, you take your own advice.
"Go away...please"...at least that is what I say to my kids...or..."where's your mother?"
I like the "buy the book" response better.

Thank you . The few times I have settled I end up paying for it. Every single time. . "Do not settle" works well at all price points.
@oih82w8 the reason I like " do not settle" is it works from the first time you buy a coin to the very last. As important as reading the book (and it sort of implies the same thing) is I've never read a book that sounds this advise. For sure read the book is great advise.
He has also read some of the books amd now wants to buy

So far all of you have advised him well when he asked for advice.
“Do not settle” is only three words and more economical than the four words I often hear from Mark Feld. “You can do better.”

Wait, isn't it supposed to be the other way around?
But if you read the threads on this forum, it really is about the holder, isn't it?

The way things on going with the last U.S. coin on my want list, settling might be on the only solution. I want a nice AU or a low end Unc., but settling for an EF might be the only option.
Of course as soon as I buy the EF, the “perfect” higher grade coin will be offered. That’s always been true for me with 1796 half dimes. I’ve always bought the wrong coin without fail. It’s one coin that has always eluded me when it came to acquiring the “perfect” example.
You are much more positive than I. I would have said:
"Run Forrest Run"

It is a hobby....If you want to invest, try stocks and real estate. Cheers, RickO
Bill that has happened to me twice now so I hear you. I ended up with the coins I wanted but had to place the “other” with someone else. Of course financially that wasn’t a winning play. Both times after waiting years and settling the “right” coin mysteriously pops up days later. Go figure

Will it cross?
I knew it would happen.
It is so hard exercising patience when you just started; I was "all over the place" wanted everything and anything. It took me a good 6 months to finally know what I want best and best for me.
