I assume you mean the little icons to the left of screen names. They seem too small to have much interest although I use them as quick finding aids for certain posters.
Mine has been there since I joined the forum....even the forum before this forum.... and reflects a major interest, profession and avocation....Cheers, RickO

Zoins I know for a fact you have some Awesome coins you could use for your avatar if you chose ?
Thanks for saying so! So far I've chosen my avatars for some kind of meaning, hence Lincoln and "Research Laboratory". I've thought about changing a few times but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm curious what will be next
Given that I I created my username as Old Indian Nut Kase........just so that I can sign my posts as OINK, II made my AVATAR the oldest Indian that I own. But maybe it should be a revolving AVATAR because I do have other interesting Indians that would like a little recogogition as well........
Maybe like this one.....

I've only changed a couple of times. I took a break about a year ago and when I came back, I decided to switch
I don't know where all the old avatars are but I took a shylock proof eagle without legend and substituted, ironically, Stewart's 1919 Lincoln portrait on it and it stayed for years.
It's slightly OT, but not everything has to be about coins.
Possibly the most magnificent of all the antelope, the greater kudu is widely distributed across southern Africa. Tregelaphus strepsiceros is also known as the grey ghost. One minute they can be standing there and the next they can seemingly vanish into thin air.
My avatar was photographed by a friend on their ranch in the Kalahari desert. A large framed print of this hangs in my office. The second photo is one that I took in 2017 on the same ranch. It is not so common to see a big bull out in the open and even more rare when he stands for a photo.
As a tribute to my Dad,my avatar represents me and my (deceased) Dads favorite baseball player,"Stan the Man" Musial. Reminds me of my Dad every time I visit the CU forum.

It would be great if it ever gets listed as a so-called Dollar, but........I guess not.
I've changed mine several times, but usually have one of my favorite gold toners. I really like the color and fun factor of this one, so have had it up for awhile
I miss my .gif Morgan I had that made the software change but I stupidly didn't think I couldn't switch back to it if I changed it for a bit. @PCGS can we get something done on being able use a .gif avatar please

Another good one is yours @bolivarshagnasty .... every so often I just have to go to youtube and watch an old video of "Wacky Races" or some Bullwinkle episodes when I see your ICON!
I recently changed mine, to the reverse of a gorgeous 1954 Proof Jefferson Nickel I found in a proof set. I don't update my avatar often, so it has to be something really good to make me want to do it.

anyone ever tell you you have a extremely large mouth !
Might be time to change mine
I cropped one of these down to the skull and crossbones for my old avatar:
What is now proved was once only imagined. - William Blake
How in the heck will we find you then? You've had that TD for years and years. It's an ICON icon.
"Keep your malarkey filter in good operating order" -Walter Breen
Here's an old avatar of mine which I'm still fond of. It's cropped from my INCO pattern.
Zoins I know for a fact you have some Awesome coins you could use for your avatar if you chose ?
I don't need to be found. I lead such an uncomplicated and boring life. (and like it).

I've had this one since I joined in February 2007.

One of my better scores - $10 raw 1971 proof set at a small show - contained a PCGS PR69Dcam quarter. Now Pop 15.
Not a bad ROI.

My digital cameo album 1950-64 Cameos - take a look!
Mine is taken from a advertising cover for the 1901 Pan American Exposition-a "Buffalo in a tux." I've had four different ones since I joined in 2002.
Indiana Centennial Medal, 1916. I think its awesome.
Carson City is my home town and I just happen to like CC coins!

We've had some of these Avatar threads over the years. It's always been fun to find out why people picked the ones they have.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...

My avatar is Daniel Dancer, the famous English miser (died 1794).
I have read most of the classic 'lives' of the English misers, some of the lives of the Continental misers too.
It's really good to do frugal, but I do like heat and food and regular showers too much to do the full-blown miser thing.
Coin collecting and miserliness touch at some common points - just ask my wife!
