Heritage Lot Unsold

Hello, I bid on a lot in tonight’s Heritage Session 6 auction. My maximum bid was astronomically higher than the current bid. The lot was closed, but doesn’t show as sold. While lots around it do show as sold. What’s going on?

ALL the even numbered lots are being skipped. Must be a software malfunction. Heritage is going to have major headaches from this catastrophe. Your lot must have been an even numbered lot.

It could be a glitch, I'd just wait until the morning when they run preliminary invoices and it should sort itself out.

Looks like 7510 was the last even number lot. Will be interesting to see how this is handled.

Wait a few days. My last Heritage win took a few days to sort out before I knew whether I won or lost.

Probably just more Russian hackers. You may have won, just don't know it yet.

Does that mean I can still bid on them or is it over?

    Latest from Heritage:
Auctioneer (6:47:27 PM CT): Tonight’s auction has been postponed until 5pm tomorrow evening due to technical difficulties. We will begin bidding again with lot 7510. Any bids previously placed on lots 7510 - 8088 will be maintained. However, please be advised that bidding will be reopened in the interest of allowing those who were not able to bid to participate. Thank you for your patience.

All I can say is I was hitting the bid button on the one coin I wanted and the next thing I know it was 2 lots later it bid? I won a coin that I did not want and lost A coin that I have waited to buy for 3 years. Already called and left a message and all I can do now is hope they cancel the coin I won.

  • Received the following message from Heritage:

Well if you go look at what is for sale tonight it is ONLY THE EVEN NUMBER LOTS. The coin I was bidding on that did not take my bid and actually bid on the next coin is showing SOLD and is a odd number lot. So they screwed up but are only going to reopen the even numbers? What a Bummer and the consigner is going to lose money because of this decision. I will call again this morning to tell them I do not want the coin that I did not want to win and will see what they have to say about that.

Given the circumstances, I can't see any reason why they would not void the bid on the coin you do not want. If you do have problems you should make it known here.

I'm sorry that you lost a coin you have wanted to buy for three years. As a want list collector, I understand your frustration.

If I had to guess he did not like the disagree(?s) you gave when he was blaming Russian hackers. Thus some retaliatory disagrees in return.

Personally, I found those to be amusing, and if not Russians, certainly someone/some entity who is bored and/or with an axe to grind could be having a go at Heritage.

At risk of sounding like a curmudgeonly old fart (for which I am FAR too young to be labeled), some of the whackadoodle things that can be hacked these days are pretty extensive and frightening. Not so much Big Brother, but Big Data instead.

I did not lose the lot. But I was watching the auction like a hawk. When it came to my lot, it just closed automatically. I was frantically trying to figure out what happened, and was left helpless when I found out I was calling Heritage after business hours.

I guess I can still win tonight, I just have to worry about losing a second time! :(

I do not know Heritage to make mistakes like this. They sell million dollar coins somewhat often. Have they messed up like this in the past?

From what I have seen the Heritage software has worked very well. It was the other guys (Stacks') who have had serious problems in the past although not recently.

What problems has Stacks had? Personally, I do not do as much bidding with them compared to Heritage.

Ok This is the update after talking to Heritage this morning. They are going to remove my bid on the one lot and I was told that as far as they know ALL THE LOTS will come back up for auction tonight. I explained to the lady that right now it is only showing the even number lots are on for tonight and she told me that it is ALL the lots 7510 - 8088. So I am happy that they took the one off and all I can do is watch tonight's auction to see if I get a chance at the coin I really wanted.

I for sure would like to know why someone just randomly punches the DISAGREE without a reason. That bothers the heck out of me!

That is interesting - the people who all ready 'won' an odd number lot in that range may be disappointed tomorrow.
