*** The Mint Begins A New Loyalty Program ***

This email showed up in my in box this morning.

I appreciate this gesture from the mint recognizing the loyalty of the collector base. They are the mints main supporters in the public. The public at large is mostly oblivious to new mint products and designs. Just checkout the recent thread where the poster asked people around them about the designs on pocket change. They couldn't answer correctly.

The last line frosted my flakes a little of excluding millions of Americans who live out side the continental US shows an obsolete view. You'd be surprised how many businesses hold to this out dated and discriminatory idea. Can you believe some will say about shipping to Hawaii that they don't ship to "over seas" destinations.

The mint did change it's policy of not sending packages via Stupid Post to Hawaii and Alaska a couple years ago. This reduced shipping time from 21 days to less than a week. I will see how this loyalty program affects future shipments from the mint.

I was wondering if/when/how they were going to announce this. I would have thought it at least worthy of an e-mail campaign. It was back in the FAQ's in January.

    US Mint Loyalty Program...

I was looking around a couple weeks ago to see if there was a counter someplace that told you how many purchases you've made so far, but then realized you just need to look at your order history and count the number of buys you made this year... :)

The Mint will only make me happy when they stop sending their UNSOLICITED crap to my house.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    I agree.

They need to extend the program a bit to where the shipping goes negative and shows up as a credit on your order. Can you imagine ordering 25 times and getting a Quarter Dollar off your Order?

Of course I'm only joking. The Mint only extends discounts to Dealers.

The stuff is all wildly overpriced so the shipping being free once in a while is no hardship to them.

I have long since fallen off their 'favored' list....Years ago I would buy the mint, proof and silver sets....They all sit in a big box, in an area I rarely use. I guess I should find a quiet way to dispose of them... Nah... I will keep them, it is coming up on time to pull them out again and review them...maybe I will find a wildly tarnished coin or two...never have yet... but it has been several years... maybe a mouse took up residence and breathed some semi noxious cheese breaths on them :D:D Perhaps some 'Roquefort tarnish'.... That would sell for a small fortune on ebay.... ;) Cheers, RickO

For example, the price of a 5oz puck went up $5 this year (as if they didn't charge enough for silver vs. spot), just enough to offset the $4.95 free shipping...
