25 Rolls 1883-0. 20 Rolls 1879-s
The mice chewed at the paper hence the plastic rolls
WOW... What I'm seeing looks really nice!
RE: "The mice chewed at the paper...." Looks like they gnawed on the coin at right and it got smaller.
Both are good years for varieties. What's the condition range? Often rolls such as those shows were taken from bank bags and will have only one or two die varieties for the entire date/mint.
That's quite a few photos. Did you land the deal ?
Looks like a lot of fun, good luck with it !
These were boughtin1965 been sitting.
No vams pretty solid Rolls
Some real nice coins 63 and up some pl surface on the 79s a few lower grade
The smaller coin is just my bad photography skills
very nice - I read somewhere the US Mint sprinkled sulfur dust around the storage rooms with bags of Morgans to keep the mice away.
Beautiful, love to find stuff like that (not that I have).
bob
I was pleasantly surprised not to find made up Rolls that I'm sure most every one has seen
Hers some more pics
I want one. Can’t ever get good rolls. Nice.
Best place to buy !

Grading wise, the bulk options are a great deal. One service costs $5 for every coin that grades MS63, a few bucks more for MS64, etc.. It looks like a great opportunity if someone plays their cards right.
I'm sad to say these are already gone to much$$$$for me to hold and process
Here's the last of the pics didn't even open all the Rolls !!!
I dream about stuff like this. Very cool.
Love it! Very cool.
This illustrates why I love toners so much. While looking at the groups laid out my eye just goes right to them. Its like when your talking to someone and theres a TV behind their head, the flashing moving pictures thing gets my attention the most, sorry.
man that would be fun!!!!
Only 2 dates. Perhaps the seller,at the time, had 2 mint bags he was selling. Gone already? Had a hope they might appear on the BST ..Thanks for sharing the lot, of nice coins.
Since you have already flipped them, can you share the buy sell price? I would have no idea what 45 rolls might cost? Is that 45 rolls of 10? If so, and assuming $20 each coin, would 450 coins x $20 = $9,000 be a ballpark for what you sold them for? If so, I am guessing a purchase price from the original seller for about 1/2 that, or 450 coins x $10 = $4,500?

45 rolls should be 900 coins... or around $11,500 at melt.
Looks like a lot of fun. Would have liked to been there to see it in person.

Way Cool and Thanks for sharing with us!
Really enjoyed seeing this.
They are rolls of 20 and those coins are MS so they would fetch well over $20 each. They are common date and hard to tell grades from the pictures but wholesale would be around $45/MS63, $54/MS64, $100/MS65 each.

VERY nice.....
WOW !!! VERY KOOL !!! Someone sure scored on these rolls.
I would have certainly bought every one of them at $500 a roll. If it looked like the majority would grade out 63 or higher I would have gladly paid $600 a roll.

Worth more than 30 a coin
Had a local vest pocket get a deal similar, not as many coins, but he hosed the lady at 12 bucks a coin, then went around to other dealers incl me asking 40 plus. And bragging about it as well.
Wow... what a find.... sizeable outlay and I see why you moved them quickly....probably left a lot of money on the table that way, but still profitable. Cheers, RickO
That is a nice little collection of rolls! As far as value, any legit dealer would pay $500 a roll easily if they are all UNC. And a dealer could easily sell the rolls for between $600 to $700 each raw.
So about $22,500 as a buy price from a legit dealer. And $27,000 to $31,500 as dealer sell price.
Obviously, a dealer could make more by picking out the better examples and having them graded.
No doubt there are many more little hoards like this hidden in safes, safety deposit boxes, etc. Many come to light without the general public knowing.
Am I right in thinking that the best of the end roll toners are the coins that will bring the bucks?
I'd get those slabbed and then go from there...
Or roll em back up and let the ebayers finally get a shot at bidding on some real rolls for a change....they might hit the moon
I wish I had....KEPT.... the many many rolls of Morgans and Peace that a customer sold to me.
But ....nooooooooooooooo.... I quit the shop with tons of .999
which is happily GONE now.
I am seeing some MS66 and MS67 coins in there. Add the color and PL coins and a ton of money was left on the table. Penny wise, DOLLAR foolish!
Notice from the above discussion how the "cost" has been inflated by needless "grading" of common-date/common-condition coins? This useless overhead doubles the cost but not the value, thereby helping to restrict the hobby to people with more money available.
I paid more than has been quoted in different post.
Also sold for more than what has been quoted.
Yes I left money on the table.
Fast nickel or slow dime.
Lot of money at play with for me.
Imagine what it was like for David Hall cherry picking through bags of Toner/DMPL dollars back in the day.

Can you grade coins decently? If yes, were some of those as nice as your slightly blurry pictures show?
Unless they come back as MS 65 or better, the only people who'll make money on these coins are those charging grading and shipping fees.
A few years ago, I sent in a roll of 56 D Lincolns, the bulk of which came back as MS 66 RD. I made some money on the coins, but the TPG made more than I did, as none of them went MS 67. Probably a similar situation here.

Great post with great pics... I thoroughly enjoyed it! AB
Look of the Morgans., mark free ,faces ....fields .... 66s today?
You can't sell original nice rolls like the common rolls are sold at shows. Most of those have been picked over, these look like they have a lot of potential. Coins that have MS65 potential need to be submitted. I know a dealer who got a lot of 1887 rolls with MS65 coins in the group. He ended up selling them average rolls on ebay and out of his shop at $700-$800 a roll max.. He left money on the table. But as usual people are looking for quick sales.
Tell me where I gotta go to buy these and I'm on my way!! Gorgeous and makes my hands shake
thats wicked cool, i like
Say what you will, but I love uncirculated common date Morgans in quantity. I don't have that sort of quantity but I pick them up when I find them priced right.
Nice rolls and congrats on the quick flip!
