    looks like a die chip, but that is not why people are bidding so heavy
    it also looks like full step which would make it a $500+ nickel

    Just my opinion...........doesn't look FS to me. The bottom looks incomplete.

    It would account for the increased bidding.

    I agree, the bottoms under column 2 and 3 look incomplete, but it is a picture and looks close.

    IMO, This coin has 5 FS. These exist with 6 FS.

    Long ago there was only FS. Then 5 FS. Then 6 FS. BTW, in the 1990's the "old" PCI would assign 5 1/2 Steps to coins.

    Yep... die chip in the 5... cannot see the 5th step in the enlarged picture... It could be there, concealed by the lighting... However, I would not gamble the premium on 'might'... Cheers, RickO

    If you are going to play the "full steps" game buy only coins that are already slabbed as such.

    I agree and feel that is one of the most expensive raw Jeffersons I have seen.
