An unusual question regarding 1917 SLQ's . . .

coindeucecoindeuce Posts: 13,515 ✭✭✭✭✭

Is there any evidence that 1917 SLQ mules could have been made at Philadelphia ( Type 1 obv. / Type 2 rev.) ?
Impossible ? Did Mint protocol absolutely prevent the chance ?

Is RWB around ? He is adept at uncovering Mint documents regarding die management.

Very unlikely. Mint HQ issued orders to segregate the old design dies. New dies were then issued and mints were told not to mix the two versions. If I can fine one of the letters I'll post it.

I figured this question was posted by a new member who had found a "magicians" coin and did not wish to let on he had a rare mule! Can you post an image? LOL.

There are other documents, just can't put my hands on them at the moment.

RG104 E-235 vol 420 can be found on the NNP site in PDF format. Anyone can browse though the pages to get a glimpse of daily correspondence.

Thanks Roger... the directive is clear, however, when the human factor is introduced, all the directives in the world cannot help. Thanks for showing us the letter, I really enjoy these historical missives. Cheers, RickO

You figured wrong. But you've been around long enough to know what Snowden was capable of. And Samuel Brown.
