I’ve been sucked into the show this season, but it’s kind of a slog, and the narration is almost self parody. (“A comment?!? About the narration!?!)
If anyone can recommend a good book on the subject (not one of the ones written by the family that lived there in the 60s), I’d much rather learn about it that way vs the show. (“A book?!? Instead of a television show!?!”)

Oh,... I didn't know it was featured on a current television show. I don't watch television. That might be the only redeeming factor about my personality. O.k., I admit it. I do watch Leave It To Beaver reruns. But only because the Beaver's mom, June, is .........a HOTTIE!

I find it oddly comedic. And it seems all they find are things which tell them they're in Maritime Canada, that people have searched for treasure there before (unsuccessfully, not that it needs saying), and that on a small island on the ocean, the water table is not that far down.
The only way to watch Oak Island is by recording it and viewing it later. As someone previously stated there are about 25 minutes of content in this 60 minute show. Fast forward is your friend.

Well....season 7 ... Both Veteran treasure Hunters Mr. Nolan And Mr. Blankenship have passed on and made amends before they did and Mr. Nolan's son is on board with the team and they're in the swamp, Smith's cove has been quite revealing historically and they are all in... to find more, whatever that may be... I'm thinking they are on the right track for better discovery starting in the swamp and possibly the west end of the island, all of which are untouched area..... got your DVR and FAST FORWARD button ready, or are you just going for the last few episodes and call it good... or pass altogether??
Yes, I have watched it for years. It is one of the last history programs on the the History Channel. It is interesting that all of history is somehow tied to Oak Island.
Its like the soaps, you can skip a week, a month, or a year...come back and they're exactly where they were when you left. I think I'm a fan, I watch it twice a year religiously. Lol. I see a crossover...Days of Our Lives on Oak Island.
Like a fool I’ve been watching them dig up rusty ass nails and buttons from the 15th century off and on for 7 years now.

Absolutely love it, even though each show goes over the same thing over and over. You ever think about the original money pit's construction? Oak timbers every ten feet, you can't do that starting at the top and working your way down so, it must have been the way out and you would have to have a ladder of sorts to get up the next level. Maybe the entrance IS in the swamp, drain the swamp, lol...
Edited: Actually, digging your way up may not work out so well, hmm.

I watched the first two seasons or so. From there, it was pretty evident they will not find anything. (If they do, I'll go back and watch that season! ha)
This show drives me nuts! Instead of making 10 foot (or whatever) wide holes all over the place, do it gravel pit style and start clearing an area 300 feet across, then slowly spiraling in to the center. After 100 feet or so down, you'll have your answer.
That's onna the things that F'd up the sight. One of the searchers from the 50's or 60's did that!

Whatever happened to the 17th century copper 8 maravedi they found in the swamp? I thought it was amazing that the copper coin still showed the light brown "desert type patina" even though it spent all that time in the acidic organic environment
Yes, I still watch it, but that obvious planted coin in the first or second season led me view the show with the same believability as professional wrestling
The show is what,,,,,, 6 months behind the filming,,,,,,, I would have to think if they find something we will hear about it long before it airs on television. You aren't going to keep something like that quiet for long. Too many people involved beside Rick & Marty,,,, all the construction people will be talking about it.
IF they ever find anything there at Oak Island of any value, which they won’t, it would be on the 6:00 news. Save your time. I don’t like the show nor do I like players. It’s not real, it’s completely rehearsed 😂
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

Shades of Al Capone's vault. IIRC many, many, many years ago I read about the Oak Island "treasure" in a Coin World issue.

Did you hear about the guy that just burned down an entire city block in New York trying to mimic something he saw on Forged in Fire. Google it.
If they ever find a hoard of gold & or silver coins, it's going to be numismatic windfall, pedigree 'The Curse of Oak Island'

It's a pretty exciting show !
I've seen them find a 'spike' and even a button !
I like it better than ANYTHING that ABC, NBC, and CBS spews that is not sports related.

It’s a primer on how to destroy an island and blow a few million, but I like it.
I think there was something there that may have already been found. I hope there’s more to find and they really hit it big.
I also hope they don’t find it by drilling a hole through it. .....hey, here s the ark of the covenant, never mind that 8 inch bore hole through it.
It's tolerably good if streaming it. Otherwise all they find is commercials.
I usually watch it while working on the computer. There is little to watch on the main networks anymore.

We don't know what it is or who buried it there, but it's definitely treasure. I wouldn't turn one shovel full of dirt based on that.
