I was in Battle Creek, MI, recently. There's an installation of a portrait of Lincoln made by a local artist, Robert Schlatter, using 24,500 cents, including every year from 1909 to 2017, a blank planchet, and a couple Indian cents. This measures 8x12 feet and weighs 400 pounds.

Remarkable. Very well done.
Interesting that the pennies alone are less than half the weight (around 150 lbs, if the mix of copper and zinc is roughly the same). Sturdy metal frame and backing?
Lance.
Like the steelies as a nice touch for the shirt. Shame about that '43 Copper and '44 steelie that snuck in there!
That is cool, I wonder if he chose already darker/lighter coins or he colored them in some way? That took some time I bet.
