The Mint on Carson Street...finally got a copy

Why is it so elusive at a reasonable price?

Been after this book for years for less than a hundred bucks. It's always way north of that.

Well, I finally won one on, of all places, eBay. :#

Just felt a need to shout.

    I know how you feel. I just bought a book for $150, limited edition of 500. Now I just have to read it.

    I hear you...I've been looking for a copy of Dick Graham's book on Reeded Edge Bust Halves with no luck for quite a while now.

    I have a copy right on my desk that has been staring at me for years and I have yet to read it. It's not from a lack of wanting to, it's just that life is relentless in refusing to give me an opportunity with time and quiet to read anything.

    Work, kids, eat, sleep, repeat.....

    I found a copy it at one of the Nevada museums, I forget which one. They only had one copy.

    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    The press runs for many of these books is so small that I think digitization is important. I'm mostly into books for the information so high quality photos is less important to me. I prefer to have photos online.

    I've been buying and reading more books on the Kindle and I think it's great. Though not a coin book, I'm currently reading "Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans: The Battle That Shaped America's Destiny" by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger. It's letting me see a side of Andrew Jackson that I didn't know about before, like getting to know Alexander Hamilton through Ron Chernow earlier.

    I just took a look inside the cover of mine out of curiosity. It's #306. I still had the receipt inside and paid $59.45 (also on eBay) in 2004, so you did well.

    Isn't that a great book? I feel left out, though ... mine is not marked with a number or signed. Rusty Goe did an absolutely bang-up job with that one.

    I received my book today.... 505 of 1000.... In 'mint' condition.... looks as if it has not even been opened. Now to get into it... good thing winter is here :D ... Will have more time. Cheers, RickO

    Me, too. Hardcover, copyright date of 2003, but no number or signature...

    Got mine as well! First printing, #330 of 1000 also in mint condition. Already started reading it.
