MS64CAC Imaged very nicely. Used the coffee filters to mute the harshness of the lighting. Look forward to seeing yours.

Great photos and nice half eagle!

This is my first quarter eagle, it is currently in transit and of course their scans. It's a pcgs 63.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Nice $5 Lib. I'm always impressed at how well these were made.

Oh my. That '85-S is sweet!

I don't collect gold because I have this unreasonable fixation on surfaces. That half eagle fits the bill.

    Wonderful photo. NICE luster.

Just how did you use the coffee filter to affect the light?

Pretty simple stuff. I use the filters on gold and proofs.

I just purchased this Lincoln piece, which is listed in DeWitt as AL 1860-18. This was the last piece I needed to complete the four Benjamin True medalets for all four 1860 presidential candidates. I had been looking for this one for a long time.

It does not look like much, but it is holed, made of white metal and "broad shield" variety. As such this was one of the pieces that was actually made and probably used during the 1860 campaign, unlike fancier ones that were struck for collectors after the election.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
