Post a coin you knew you would buy the second you saw it

I don't collect anything even remotely close to this. It was at the top of my first ebay search of the day and I had to have it.

Less than $100. One of the prettiest in my Buff 5c date set. PCGS MS64.
Lotsa those! Here's 2.

I think I may have owned your avatar at one time.
This is one of the most amazingly beautiful toned coins in my collection - and it's the very popular overdate 1894/1894! I knew I wanted to add it to my collection the moment I saw it!
The Penny Lady®
Wow! That is electric!
There have been quite a few, some auctions which I had to wait out, and some buy it now.

I've always desperately loved the luster on this one:
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I purchased this piece from, Andy at "Angel Dee's" it was love at first sight and is the pinnacle of my colorful buffalo nickel collection.
I hope there is room in this thread for something from the darkside. I collect matte proofs and 20th Century German Empire. This coin is the only place they fully intersect. (There are two issues where the obverse is matte finish and the reverse is brilliant.)
I saw this Flying Eagle in a Stacks auction and new I had to have it. Somebody benefited greatly from my need for this coin!
When I saw this Indian cent I new it would be mine.
Rosa Americana 2 pence.
And since it was on the CRO Early Bird, I had to buy it the second I saw it.

I can't post pictures, but I will buy the last two Classic Head $2.50 coinsi need in AU-58 to MS-62, PCGS graded, not cleaned and "Coin Facts" as a price base. I have been looking for over a year.
Only because a bearded goddess in PCGS AU is not something you see everyday!
Although it took awhile to raise the funds, it was worth every penny....Pop 3 with only 2 higher!

Not a US coin but it's part of the inspiration for the Morgan Dollar's obverse as well as the Pan Pac $50s dolphins. This dekadrachm of Kimon sang to me the instant I saw it but I couldn't afford it at the time. Happily, a couple years later I managed to buy it privately and it's now firmly in my top tier of favorite coins:
I bought it ungraded, but knew I had a winner.

Raw in a flip for under $20, now PCGS PR68 CAM.
It was love at first sight on this one. The Type I Buffalo has always been a favorite and the colors of this coin in hand are exquisite. Looks just like a summer evening sunset
I have many, but besides my avatar (bought in a proof set for less than 10 bucks), I knew this was a gem when I saw it in its original cellophane baggie.

My avatar here (and elsewhere). Coin appears to be a bronze, with ocean green and blue toning. An un-attributed Accent Hair proof. Had to have this one.

That's a tough question really...I guess one of my most recent that I'm still pleased about is this 1969-D MS64PL Kennedy I nabbed for $90. Concerning rarity for this year vs the 1970-D; there are only 8 graded at MS64 for '69-D, and 70 at MS64 for the 1970-D. So, being a PL purveyor and enthusiast, I was quite pleased!
Saw this one posted by a major dealer on eBay, and bought it using Buy it Now before I even checked to see if it was cheaper on the dealer's own site. In hindsight, that was dumb
, but not as dumb as if someone had bought it out from under me while I was busy trying to save $100. The first coin in my S-Mint Quarter Eagle Set, and will remain so unless I find a 1854-S somehow misplaced in a junk bin.
I was surprised it didn't gold bean.
I use this coin as my avatar on this forum. It is a PR65+ with great color that is special for CuNi cents. This coin was a natural fit for my toned IHC PR collection. Rare with color.

Nice! I believe I was the underbidder on this one. Glad you got it.
Super sweet Kennedy, you'd have to be a modern hater not to like that.
I saw this posted on Reddit nearly a year ago, I would ask the owner if they were willing to sell it every few months, the persistence finally paid off and I bought it. It's at PCGS right now.

As soon as I saw this coin on eBay, I knew in an instant I had to have it. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was @illini420 who was selling it and had it listed on his site. So I contacted him and made arrangements to take ownership. It's now one of the most prized coins in my collection. I was surprised it had not been to CAC prior to my ownership. I knew it was strong for the grade and sent it in. I'm considering sending it in under reconsideration with a hope of it getting a 67. It's also been the absolutely most challenging coin I have ever attempted to shoot.
My avatar coin was a must have when I saw it...

I was looking for a long time to acquire a VF or XF 1865-S quarter with original surfaces and good eye appeal, and then this one popped up on David Kahn's website. He must have just uploaded it, as I did not wait long to buy it.
Bought this immediately when I saw it on a dealer's website years ago, for a few reasons:
1846 Rulau R-Y4, Do Your Duty token.
Currently the highest graded at any TPG. Lots of counterfeits out there, and authentic examples are scarce. I pulled the trigger on this immediately when I saw it on a dealer's website.

I bought this from Legend for a small premium over the price of a white coin back in the days when color coins could be found in dealers' inventory.

@dpoole.....That 1898 Eagle is a real beauty.... luster is amazing.... Cheers, RickO
The exact second. Well, other than how many seconds it took to make the phone call.
About a minute.
And..... a couple days of a "wanted" on BST before the owner called saying he had one.
U.S. Type Set
All are beautiful but I would have been all over this one!!! My what a beauty.

nice coin all. a lot of these i could live with.
Years ago I saw the coin pictured below sitting in an OGP SMS set at a coin show. It sang to me and I immediately bought the set for the cost of a hot dog (with mustard and relish) and a soft drink at the coin show concession stand.
