In the quest for greatness, we can overachieve to the point of mediocrity. "Leave well enough alone", is my motto. But hey, whatever trips the collective trigger. Like what you buy. Buy what you like. Like what you do and do what you like, in this hobby/business/game.
It is a game, right ? I don't like them dipped and I don't like dipping them. I have purchased a few and sold a few. I have seen a million dipped, and dipped a few. But....in the end like the beginning, I prefer original, dusty hidden subdued and dark ,natural coins as they get , over time. Each one has it's own original character. Each to their own.

I bet they don't care. From what I've see, the main difference between an AU-53 and AU-55 is mostly eye-appeal. Think about it. IMO, AU-53 is an unnecessary grade. Whomever thought that one up should have considered adding AU-57 also! It's the same nonsense.
I wonder if someone posted this second coins (post dip) in a GTG or anything else. Would the haters still be as prevalent, I doubt it, not a bad-looking coin as is. Imo. But we will never know now that every one has weighed in. In the before and after photos.

Mr. Yucko post-dip. Looks cleaned in that photo.
Very unfortunate. It's just a fugly-looking widget now.
I'm one of those that prefers the coins white, but in this case I like the toned coin better.
