Something different here.........These were just graded at PCGS. What did PCGS say about them? AT or straight graded? If graded feel free to assign a grade.

I can't see these being anything but AT. But with that said they probably graded :D

    Seems like AT to me.

AT but I think "market acceptable."

"One of these things is not like the others...."

I'm intrigued by the 1989, which seems to be "wildly toned" only on the obverse. So it wouldn't seem to be the same as the "gassed" versions we are used to....

Added: As for guesses, the 2001 seems AT without question to me....The other two I'm on the fence about....(except that I question all SAE toners.)

First one should get slabbed. Second has a 50/50 shot and third has an 80/20 shot imo.

    The more you VAM..

Please please please no more pictures at an angle! Everything looks AT that way.

The last one is the only one that looks natural to me. I have seen several that look like the second but I think it will grade. The first one screams AT but sometimes those grade too.

With limited photo skills it's the best I could do!! But the color is 100% accurate.

All are AT. Five pages of similarly toned ASE's on Ebay. Wouldn't surprise me if they all straight graded. PCGS has been doing that for a couple of years.

2 and 3 straight graded at 67 ish

By today's standards, nothing (except you painting on it) is AT. :#:s:#

All three graded PCGS MS67. I purchased these at a local show a couple months ago. The Dealer said he had them for years and just brought them out to sell. He didn't have any other toned coins and was probably 70+ years old and seemed very trustworthy! No way did he AT them but I did not ask him about the origins. A lot of interesting opinions around here!

All three look unnatural to me, but I have seen comparable coins in PCGS plastic. I guess they are or at least were considered market acceptable. I heard PCGS no longer slabs these. Is that true?

I see the 1st one as more NT.
2nd one looks completely AT to me.
3rd one looks like a combo, so would fall more on AT

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Probably explains why the TPG's just have to give in....

Im sticking with my original thought. (And our host happened to agreee) Just because we see so many accelerated toned ASEs out there, that does not preclude every other one from being AT. these look natural to me. At least 2 and 3. I can't say for sure why, But for starters the depth, darkness and progression, and after looking at a few thousand you can start to get a feel. That being said, I also do agrees PCGS has been loosening there standards over their past 8 to 12 months. If you have them send them in. Cash in while.you can

Those are AT....Many, many ASE's are in slabs and are AT.... They are easy to do and are attractive to many collectors.... additionally, they command a premium.... Cheers, RickO
