An 1806 "C-5"

This is one of the most peculiar fakes I have seen. They seemingly were attempting to fake the very rare C-3 but they got the fraction wayyy off and the date font is bad. Yet the lettering on the rest of the coin (in my opinion) is pretty darn good. The overall design features (wreath, bust, etc) are also very good and the aging is extremely convincing.
Why go to so much effort and get lazy on the fraction and the date?
Edit: I made mistake and put "C-4" which is not what I meant. I mean this counterfeit appears to be an odd attempt at a C-5

As Chevy Chase said in "National Lampoon Christmas Vacation," after the squirrel ran out the front door, GONE!
Sorry it got pulled down too soon to make you point.
It is still there for viewing....just scroll down..... Cheers, RickO
Thanks! I was on an iPad before.
It's a counterfeit. The date is not quite right for the 1806, C-4, and the reverse does not match any of the 1806 varieties.
Less you think that this is a new discovery, the sharpness of the date looks out of place with the rest of the coin. The surfaces also have the color of the typical Chinese copper toning they place on their early copper creations.
Here is a genuine 1806, C-4 half cent. Most of the Mint State examples of this coin came from the Chapman Brothers hoard which surfaced in the early 1900s. The Chapman Brothers were Philadelphia coin dealers.
@BillJones .....Thanks Bill... nice specimen and good numismatic points... Cheers, RickO
The 1806 Half Cents consist of four die marriages.
The C-1 small hi 6 stemless
The C-2 small lo 6 with Stems
The C-3 small hi 6 with Stems
The C-4 large 6 with Stems.
There is not a C-5.
This counterfeit piece is using the reverse of an 1804
C-6 coin and a worked on obverse I can't make out.

By the way, on the 1804 rev they used, all the
"T"'s have no feet which is common to that marriage.
Also it is one of the spiked chin varieties used in
other counterfeits we've seen posted here.

Yes, but it is an offering from a top rated seller on eBay ...
Nice C-4 Bill !

Thank you!
Most 1806 C-4s show some weakness in the strike on the tip of the bust and on the reverse. When I was collecting the Draped Bust half cents by die variety, I had a hard time finding one I liked. I finally did local one that was fully struck, but in VF-EF. When I bought this one, which is graded Mint State, I sold my old to ... Roger Cohen. He was in Cambridge, Massachusetts visiting one of his relatives.
