Well Jerry Jones is a moron , he's a terrible owner. He hired garrett because garrett is ok with Jerry sticking his nose into the running of the team. It's like Jones is the coach and GM , if he was a good businessman he would fire himself but he is probably surrounded by people who say how brilliant he is.

He is probably still upset he didn't get Johnny football I think he should fire Prescott and hire his grandson to be the next QB . B)

Garrett generally runs the show on the coaching side. The only move I know of that he did not approve of was the Rex Ryan firing. Jerry is the GM but his executives have a lot of influence (which has been seen more in recent seasons) and he allows them to do their jobs. Jerry role now is primarily the face of the franchise and he helps in the final decision making process when their is a dispute between areas of the team (ie. college scouting dept. and coaches). Garrett, Will McClay, and Steven Jones probably have more of an imprint on this team than Jones by himself.

He should never have fired Landry and then he should have not forced Johnson to leave.

Did you want Landy to step down after the 1988 season instead? Because it was time to move on.

I think Landry was one of the best coach's in the NFL and should have stayed. Once Jerry brought Johnson in who was also a very good coach he should have let him coach. Instead he ran him off and then we entered the coach of the month club of a bunch of has been's and and never was losers for coach's.

There is no doubt that Landry was a great coach but after the 1988 season it was time for him to step down after 3 losing seasons in a row. The roster was aging quickly and the team was not drafting well. The Johnson-Jones split was probably one of the worst moves in franchise history. It stinks that neither could put their ego's aside for the good of the team. After Johnson's departure it felt like Jones was trying to go out of his way to show how much influence he had in building a winning team. This lead to many terrible decisions and some questionable coaching moves. I view Parcells hiring as Jones letting go of some control (until the Owens signing) and the Philips hiring as Jones taking some of that control back. Garrett's promotion lined up with Will McClay's input on the roster and Stephen Jones' role in the front office. Jones' always has final say but those three have had a positive impact on how the team has been put together.

As fans we are not happy with the team but to be honest the record should be somewhat expected. The secondary is almost a completely new unit and the team has played a majority of it's games without both starting linebackers (one being an All Pro). The offense is trying to replace two starters on the line while trying to find a swing tackle who is at least average. For a team that is built to run the ball losing 3 starters is catastrophic. Throw in Elliott's suspension and it is crippling to the offense. The two biggest disappointments have been Prescott's play and the failure of the WR's to create separation. It seems like when the receivers are open Prescott misses them (either a bad pass or he actually misreads a play) and if he throws a nice pass the receivers drop it.

That pretty much sums it up. And by the time these missing pieces fall back together we will be way out of contention for a wild card spot. I hate to say it but the eagles pretty much have the division title sowed up.

It really is the Eagles year. Without their key players and a defense that is in transition the Cowboys are team fighting to get to .500 not the division title. The team needs to continue to draft well and avoid gambling in rounds 2-3.

I have been a Garrett supporter but it looks like he has lost the team. In 2015 the games were at least close, now they are getting blown out. It reminds me of the end of Wade Philips tenure with the Cowboys.

Prescott has really been regressing the past couple of weeks. Cowboys offense was pitiful today.

Did Romo ever have a 3 game stretch with no TD passes and 8 turnovers? Perhaps the anointing of Dak was a little premature.

Romo had the most 4th quarter comebacks in Cowboys history. You are right, Dak does need to play with the lead.

Excuses, excuses. He's been a turnover machine these past couple of weeks. And Dallas was just about to make things interesting going in for the TD when he threw that pick 6.

I'm not going to argue any more on Romo. And Dak will be fine when we get everybody back and start fresh next year.

Did you see the stats on when Lee is in the game and when he isn't! Hard to believe that one person on defense can make such a difference.

  • dfr52dfr52 Posts: 891 ✭✭✭

Some interesting information from ESPN & Elias:

*Prescott is one of only 4 QB's in last 10 to start three consecutive games and fail to score more than 10 points (JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn and
    Mettenberger are the other three).

*For the first time in franchise history the Cowboys have failed to score 10 points in three straight games.

*This is the third time they have had four losses of 20 or more points since Jerry Jones purchased the team in 1989.

*This is the first time since 2004 that the Cowboys have had three straight losses by at least 20 points. The only other time the Cowboys had three straight losses by at least 20 points came in 1960, the first year of the organization’s existence.

If Prescott cannot lead the team to more than 10 points with Elliott out then he is the issue. Bell was serviceable against the Eagles and Looney played well against the Chargers while Prescott struggled.

Looks like Garrett and the coordinators might be losing the locker room:

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...hing-decisions

I have been a fan of Garrett and but his refusal to adjust to the talent that the team has available and the issues that have occurred after half time are hurting the Cowboys. Prescott has regressed and the secondary looks like a bunch of middle school kids chasing the guy with the football. The coaches and players are both failing right now.
