Have you circled back to buy a coin again that you once sold?

Just saw something I'd sold is once again on the market. I hated to sell it to begin with, and now have the chance to buy it back, albeit at a much higher price point. Who out there has done this? Who has never done it? In both cases, why? Any regrets either way after the fact?

    Bought a few coins back when they became available but at a lower price than the previous.

    I have bought back 2 or 3 of my old coins. I think I purchased all of them at a cheaper price than I sold them for.

    I once sold a gold dollar at a show, bought it from the dealer I sold it to, sold it to another dealer, bought it later from him and sold it to a collector all at the same show.
    Does that count?

    There's a 1794 Half Dime I sold that I deeply regret selling. I've been constantly waiting for it to pop up someplace. I have no doubt it is in a new holder with a higher grade & different cert number...... and a much higher price tag.

    Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

    Bought from a forum friend. Later sold back to him. Then later bought it back from him again. :grimace::smiley:

    More than once...I sold at a weak moment and experienced separation anxiety. Luckily I was able to re-purchase these;

    I almost did. I upgraded the $5 Liberty gold piece in my type set and sold it to a dealer. I was at one of the Lakeland, Florida shows and saw the coin that looked really nice to me. I inquired about the piece and got a quote. It was only then I realized that it was the coin I had just sold! I guess my "eye" is fairly consistent.

    Yes, I have done this and gotten spanked. Now, once I sell a coin with any kind of commitment verbal or cash on the barrel head, the coin is gone and that's that.

    I'd say it's about time to "off" it again.

    I can help. :)

    I forgot. When I was a dealer I handled an 1895 PR-63 Morgan Dollar twice. I made money both times in short order.

    Only once by accident. An ebay dealer who specializes in toned coins had a nicely colored/toned coin I won. When it arrived, I realized the color was the result of heavy juicing the images and it was a coin I had sold a few months earlier. But since I got it at around half the price I sold it for with the juiced images and not very much to begin with, I decided it was not worth sending back and kept it. I will sell it again sometime with honest images. I also learned not buy from this toning dealer since he heavily juices up his images to get the colors.............

    I believe a couple times on this one. Would do it again but don't feel I could afford it these days.

    I wish I could. When I broke up my type set, a retired banker bought all the quarters.
    I'd love to get them back.

    No. Since I have never sold a coin, I have not had the opportunity for seller's remorse. One of the benefits of being a collector... I can always go look at my coins - at home - at my leisure. ;) Cheers, RickO
