Have you circled back to buy a coin again that you once sold?

Just saw something I'd sold is once again on the market. I hated to sell it to begin with, and now have the chance to buy it back, albeit at a much higher price point. Who out there has done this? Who has never done it? In both cases, why? Any regrets either way after the fact?

Bought a few coins back when they became available but at a lower price than the previous.
I have bought back 2 or 3 of my old coins. I think I purchased all of them at a cheaper price than I sold them for.
I once sold a gold dollar at a show, bought it from the dealer I sold it to, sold it to another dealer, bought it later from him and sold it to a collector all at the same show.
Does that count?
Ok, yeah, I'm dizzy now....LOL Great story!
There's a 1794 Half Dime I sold that I deeply regret selling. I've been constantly waiting for it to pop up someplace. I have no doubt it is in a new holder with a higher grade & different cert number...... and a much higher price tag.

Bought from a forum friend. Later sold back to him. Then later bought it back from him again.

Yeah, it was funny. It was a holed but otherwise gemmy type 2 gold dollar--I think in a NGC holder.

I sold it to the dealer I was sharing the table with before the show opened. He was a big wholesaler.
I later heard another dealer say that he was looking for a holed type 2 gold dollar and had a customer for it.
I hurried back to my table, bought the coin for $20 more than I had sold it for, and resold it to the dealer who supposedly had a customer for it.
His customer apparently didn't show, and he came back to my table begging to get out of the coin as he had nowhere to go with it as his customer didn't show. So I bought it back from him.
He later left and while we were packing up, the guy who needed the coin showed up.
It was great--everybody at my table was laughing...saying things like "He just set the record for buying and selling the same coin at the same show.." etc...and giving me a bunch of grief.
The story later got exaggerated after several drinks but the story I have told is the true version.
That's a beauty!
More than once...I sold at a weak moment and experienced separation anxiety. Luckily I was able to re-purchase these;
I wish that I could find my Classic Head Large Cent that I sold;

I almost did. I upgraded the $5 Liberty gold piece in my type set and sold it to a dealer. I was at one of the Lakeland, Florida shows and saw the coin that looked really nice to me. I inquired about the piece and got a quote. It was only then I realized that it was the coin I had just sold! I guess my "eye" is fairly consistent.

no, never have
Yes, I have done this and gotten spanked. Now, once I sell a coin with any kind of commitment verbal or cash on the barrel head, the coin is gone and that's that.
I'd say it's about time to "off" it again.
I can help.
I forgot. When I was a dealer I handled an 1895 PR-63 Morgan Dollar twice. I made money both times in short order.
Only once by accident. An ebay dealer who specializes in toned coins had a nicely colored/toned coin I won. When it arrived, I realized the color was the result of heavy juicing the images and it was a coin I had sold a few months earlier. But since I got it at around half the price I sold it for with the juiced images and not very much to begin with, I decided it was not worth sending back and kept it. I will sell it again sometime with honest images. I also learned not buy from this toning dealer since he heavily juices up his images to get the colors.............
Best, SH
Yep - was sorry I sold this one and am glad to have it back.
I believe a couple times on this one. Would do it again but don't feel I could afford it these days.
The coin or the sticker?
(Insert laugh track)
I wish I could. When I broke up my type set, a retired banker bought all the quarters.
I'd love to get them back.
No. Since I have never sold a coin, I have not had the opportunity for seller's remorse. One of the benefits of being a collector... I can always go look at my coins - at home - at my leisure.
Cheers, RickO
