A high end AU by wear with average eye-appeal. Should you spend the money on having it slabbed? If it is a one coin submission, no, as the cost will be too high. If you can combine it with other coins that are worth slabbing and keep the cost down, maybe.
If it is your goal to sell this coin soon you may actually be able to do just as well if it is raw. This would make a nice type coin for someone who is using an album for their type set.
Nice coin in the better AU range.. Is that a scratch across Liberty's shoulder and going down the body? If so, that could be a limiting factor. Cheers, RickO
It looks like an AU55 to me. Not FH and not worth sending in. As mentioned above, this will most likely be enjoyed raw as a type coin and you aren't going to get a premium for the holder because neither the grade nor authenticity are really in doubt.
Just answered my own question as to the toning line as I wasn't aware if I double click on the OP's photo with this new forum software I would have a boob in my face.
I too see it as a AU55 not a slider, however that doesn't mean it wouldn't grade higher at any given TPG service these days as it's not uncommon to see SLQ's with very easily noticeable rub in sub choice MS holders.
To Err Is Human.... To Collect Err's Is Just Too Much Darn Tootin Fun!
It's a nice looking coin, but definitely not UNC. The spread between AU-50 and MS-60 is only $55. So even if it comes back AU-58, the slab fees are going to cost more than any increase in value. No one is going to argue that it is not an AU coin . IMHO, no advantage to putting it in a slab.

Broadstruck - you probably have a somewhat distorted view, as I recall you posting AU58 SLQ's years ago that most of us guessed were 63 and 64 coins! But you are right, with the gradeflation today, it may well get a 58.
I thought it was a slider/mint state coin that rubbed around in a drawer/box to remove some high point toning. There's no shortage of slabbed Mint State SLQ's that show a flat friction spot on Liberty's knee. Too much luster for a 55 imo. The Ronco Slice & Dice is another issue entirely.
I first took the straight line down Ms. Liberty's bust line to be a toning mark. Now it appears to be a scratch. Sadly the coin is AU sharpness, scratched.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Looks CH AU... Are those lamination lines running through miss libs breast or toning?
Agree, maybe one of those coveted 58+ coins?

It's clearly AU, but it also has a pair of not so trivial scratches on the wall underneath "IN GOD", which may earn this a details graded holder.

Just kidding. AU58 and a nice looking coin!

looks 58 to me. These are not the easiest to grade so you will usually get a good swath of guesses on SLQs.
No, there are many already slabbed SLQ out there. But, if that is what you want to do.

If that is a scratch down the middle no .... it is worth melt. If it is a toning line send it in.
I thought so too, but enlarge it, a toning mark
