There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. We call it today's Coin Riddle

Steve sees two Morgans at his favorite coin shop, priced at $100 and $200.
He buys the cheaper one and takes it home, where he decides he really prefers the other which is certified by PCGS.
(maybe has a green bean too)
He returns to his favorite coin shop and gives him the first coin back and says that the coin dealer already has 100 from him, which together with the returned coin, makes 200, which is the cost of the other slabbed coin.
The coin dealer accepts this and gives Steve the other coin and Steve goes on his way.
Is this correct?

no
Yes and no as it depends on quite a few things that are not in the riddle.
By "correct" what do you mean?

Really? He got the second $200 coin for $100. Pretty bad businessman.

Steve tricked the seller into thinking this, He already has the $100 cash from the purchase of the Morgan which he just gave back to him in trade as $100 for the second Morgan as well as the $100 cash the owner has not refunded yet.
Steve is a clever con artist who obviously favors this coin shop because the owner happens to be quite gullible,
is the owners name "Mark" by chance?
all around collector of many fine things
I want to know if Scarsdale Coin has a B&M, and when is a good time for me to go shopping.
Perhaps, the dealer mistakenly priced the coin that Steve purchased at $100, when it should have been priced $200. Steve returned the coin for the other coin which had a corrected price of $100? Even exchange since dealer already had Steve's $100.
Of course not, it's just a nifty flim flam. Steve buys a coin for 100. Then goes back and exchanges the $100 coin for a $200 coin. Maybe while he's at it, he could also trick the dealer into giving him back his original $100 too as he returned the original coin that it was used to purchase with~
Okay, I've been watching this for over an hour and I've lost count. When is this guy going to finish?

No.
I doubt Julian Leidman would have accepted this offer. Now on the other hand, sounds like a good deal to dummies like me.
Hey, the PCGS slab with the green bean is all I care about.
A long long long time ago, I convinced my cousin that I was financing my ....stamp
...collection by buying stamps and selling them to myself.
He tried and tried to figure that out and told me, "noooooo, that doesn't work..... does it?)
Yep, sez me. I buy the stamp for 3 bucks and sell it to myself for 5 and put the profit towards new stamps.
I'm not sure he ever DID figure that out.
The.....numbers.... work. Even if the logic doesn't.
Heads I win- tails you lose
A prime example of the flim flam man at work...

Sort of like how people say it's OK to borrow money from your 401(k), because you're paying yourself back.

Is this a hypothetical ? I bought a roll of prezzie dollars from the mint with a 40% premium attached, and cashed them out at coinstar for less. And Walmart advertises they sell for less. I got them beat by 51%. Do the math.
Not a single pic of Marilyn McCoo........:-(
Nope
That is actually pretty funny. Thanks.
Tom
That is funny.
Anyone else?

Sure why not. Especially if I'm the guy that bought the coin and returning it
How many years will it take to find this mythical coin dealer?
If the dealer is that dumb, I'm doing it with a bigger coin!

The correct answer obviously is that the coin dealer should have accepted the coin back and immediately refunded Steve's purchase price of $100. Then Steve could pay said dealer the $200. for the PCGS slabbed Morgan in the dealer's case via cash, credit card, or "put it on my tab". No Harm - No Foul! Everyone's happy. It's all good.
