Large Cents in old ANACS Holders

I realized that I had a few of them and thought I'd share some photos. I have a number in "major" slabs too, but I still like these, most of them acquired years ago.

IMHO, ANACS got a lot of the old copper grades right in the small slab era. I had some of them I cracked out for my registry set, all ended up getting the same grade at PCGS.

Thanks for posting these - some nice looking cents and I have always appreciated these holders. I also have been collecting Large Cents as a type set in old style ANACS holders, as well as Half Cents and Canadian Large Cents, although I am in more in the F-AU range. The 1804 one listed as cleaned looks pretty good to me.

There are a lot worse 1804s than that in straight grade holders.

    Thanks.
One of the local (FL) dealers who handles a fair amount of large cents studied it fairly intently and thinks it has a shot at straight grading. I won it at a Goldberg auction a few years back, and the price was a relative bargain, compared to rougher coins for more $ I see on the bourse.

I sold a straight graded AG 1799, the guy I sold it to got it holdered as a VG...ouch! Glad there's no gradeflation.

My Chain cent (VG details) and my 1804 (VG08) are both in old ANACS white holders. The 1804 would cross to PCGS, but the Chain has too many problems.

I had a 1793 Sheldon-5 (better variety) Wreath Cent in an old ANACS cache that was graded "Fine details, corroded, damaged, bent" in 2002. There was some other damage besides the coin being bent.

    Great post
