My 1877 Indian Head Cent from Denver ANA

I drove out to the Denver coin show looking for 3 coins. Today I can thank Rick Snow for this fine looking 1877 IHC. I also want to thank board members for their advice to buy a mint state coin rather than proof 1877. The only other Indians that I own were from my days as a paper boy in the late 60's.

Funny, I opened this thread and didn't even see the bottom half of the obverse and said, "who this is Rick Snow quality right here." ... only to scroll down and see the Eagle Eye sticker :)

That is a very beautiful Indian cent

Fantastic Indian! I've been drooling over that one and had it saved on my EBay watchlist. Guess I'll have to remove it. :'( Congrats!

That coin is sweet. Now if you can peel that crazy sticker off and get the green one on there, you really have something! (KIDDING!)

Man, if you had put that up as a GTG, you would have gotten a whole lot of 65 guesses!

    Congrats! :+1:

    Beautiful!

Just one question....... with all the high-quality lettering & details, what accounts for the faint bottom half of the "N" in "ONE" and the top half of the "N" in "CENT" on the reverse? Die or press issue?

Super attractive and very solid for the grade. Very easy to see how it deserved the "Eagle Eye" approval also.

That is a really nice 1877 Indian Cent regardless of the grade. It's hard to figure out why that coin doesn't have a "+" on it. I suppose that the Rick Snow sticker is better than a "+." It is in my opinion anyway.

Boy, you were lucky as a paperboy. I was also a paperboy in the late 60's. I got a couple of Buffalo nickels, standing quarters, of course silver.....but never an Indian cent !!

  • CoinMeisterCoinMeister Posts: 642 ✭✭✭✭

A very nice specimen. The Indian Cent is one of my favorite coins to collect. I happen to own a 1877 PCGS64RB example. It is a jewel in my collection. The one you bought is a seriously clean example! Congratulations!
