    Spin,

That card is gorgeous. I never noticed the 51 Ringside set before I saw them in your posts. They are such a well done set. Makes me very jealous to be quite honest. I think hockey fans where robbed in 1951. The 51 Parkies are such a fabled set for Hockey. Unfortunately the art work isn't all that great. And that would be very apparent if you set these two sets side by side.

    Congrats,
    Kevin

Thanks, Kevin! Ringside really is a gorgeous set. I feel most of the art could stand on it's own in a boxing museum. A few years ago, if you would have told me I'd be collecting a set from 1951, let alone a boxing set, I'd say you were nuts. Collecting certainly does take us down some interesting paths.

Love those 51 Ringsides. That's a beauty. That Len Dawson looks immaculate. The Chiefs logo is awesome on those.
I keep upgrading my 55 Aaron and this one arrived today with remarkable surfaces and centering. The reverse is lightly toned. I have been staring at this for 10 minutes and love the print, focus and gloss. I may be done looking for a '55 Hammer for awhile...

That 55 Aaron is awesome - color looks like it is dripping off the card. Great pickup! :o

  • Amazing Aaron!

I picked up quite a few lower end 86-87 Fleer PSA 10s, but I wanted to post a few of the cooler items I scored.

    1) 1989 Faxanadu NES Sealed VGA Graded 85 - Vintage sealed games are an interesting market. But more than anything, I remember spending an entire summer with two cousins playing this game. In true old school style, we used notebooks to plot of strategy, write hints and map the game. Fun times.

    2) 1959 Topps Bob Gibson PSA/DNA - Just an iconic card. It would have been cool if he mimicked the facsimile and signed it Robert.

    3) 1993 Magic - Alpha - Drudge Skeletons PSA 10 - I've been watching YouTube videos to educate myself on the game itself, but also the releases, expansions and what makes cards desirable. Low end MTG Alpha PSA 10s seem to have a lot of potential and the artwork on some of these cards is great.

Love the Drudge Skeletons. Played a lot of MTG in 1994, 1995. Great memories. I've considered picking up some 10's from Legends or Arabian Nights. I have most of a Revised set and an Ice Age set. But the old cards and artwork are really neat.

I've been scoring some sweet Judge's the last few weeks thanks to this little slump. Something tells me this kid will be just fine and as a Yankee fan, I'll be cheering him on for a long time to come! very happy to add these.

I have not figured out how to post a picture from my tablet, but my COMC order arrived today. 259 items covering all my various interests. My first order since I began collecting the NHL as well...95% of the cards are SN, Autographed, relic or some combination. Lots of projects worked on here. At least one of the cards is about 100 years old, but it's not a sports card. I put up a post about it on my website. https://cardboardhistory.blogspot.com/2017/08/my-biggest-comc-order-has-arrived.html

That Aaron is too nice. Not sure you have anywhere to upgrade further on it.

What's the first Judge, the /25 one? That's a nice looking set.

Topps Archives 1959 Bazooka. It’s usually a white bordered card. That’s a retailer exclusive border color, Walmart or target. I have a few from this series as well.

Ever since I heard the Dollop podcast about Rube Waddell I've wanted to get one of his cards. It also doubles as my first T206.

Just listened to it. Now I have to own "The Rube". What a dumbass. Lol.

  • Awesome Cards.. Pack pulled Judge, still think this is one of his coolest
rookie cards" And the Carr is pretty awesome. Only 10 made and have only seen 1 up on ebay in the last few years.

Beautiful Judges. Topps make some beautiful cards. Did a quick Wiki look up on Rube. I have to admit my curiosity is piqued. May need to listen to track down the podcast.

Here are 4 more additions to my 70s Sabres Run.

The /25 Judge is his 1959 Bazooka Auto insert from 2017 Archives. The regular white border Bazookas are a standard insert and the auto version is the case hit. They have 3 tiers for the autos: white border /99 (for most players, pulled a Nolan Ryan /35 so there are some exceptions), red border /25 and the black 1/1. DMHOF already snagged the black so had to "settle" for the red lol.

I collect some of the low numbers cause I like the looks - not doing the set or anything.

Wow Mike! Why is that not a higher grade? Awesome centering and eye appeal - that is a heck of a pickup.

Incredible card Monte - the centering looks great - back's great also - wouldn't mind seeing a bigger shot of the obverse.

Hiya Keith - that's quite a haul buddy! I would guess you plan on selling those RCs?

    Good luck if so.

Dave...Thx for the kind words. I have a '69 Rose PSA-9...but I just could not pass on this beauty.

Keith...I agree. It looks like a 10. I will be wearing out my welcome with this card. :)

    Don't think so Monte.

Any time you can have a 69T with that kind of centering? Incredible card buddy.

Would be really happy to have it.

James, great card of Glenn Hobbie! An interesting sidebar...he was from my hometown area of Hillsboro, IL and his wife, Sharon, was my 4th grade school teacher. He was always at the local restaurants drinking coffee most mornings when I was growing up.

I've always thought this was one of the best looking Baseball Cards ever produced. I finally decided to grab one. Any opinions on what it would grade? Thanks for the look!

    Thanks

That's a winner with most collectors from this era Craig.

One of the best "action" shots in all of card-domland.

Not great at grading - I like it in a 2 holder or so.

Picked up this 1889 upgrade from forum member DJR. He was awesome. My mailman signed for me and put it in my neighbors box. I initially freaked out a bit because the item said delivered while I was at work with signature confirmation. I woke up the next morning and headed straight to the post office before they were even open and while they were loading trucks for the day. I got to speak to a supervisor that i know pretty well from shipping packages over the years and located my postal worker. My postal worker remembered the package and signed for me, and thought that she could have left it in the box above mine (in a shared lock box with ten others from the neighborhood). I had no idea which neighbor was above me so I went door to door at 8:30 in the morning to find out. On my fourth try, my neighbor went over to check his mail and low and behold there was my package. DJR was great, saying that if the item never got to me, that he would be on the hook for the dollar amount even though he did everything right. Of course, with an item in high grade from 128 years ago I just wanted the card. It all ended well after all and here is my upgrade!

KC, you guys must of ripped a ton to pull that many Judge's. Looks like it was a lot of fun. Hopefully we can rip some together with the kids next year.

My first Jeff Gordon autograph. I've been wanting his autograph since 1994, when this card was issued, which was the year I added an autograph to my collection for the first time.

    A vintage NBA oddball...

A (possible) one card wonder. (Not sure if the ABA team issues count as cards, as I don't have any). Received in a blind trade.

I'm actually working on this set...I expect to finish it next year. I got 10 more I needed with this latest COMC order. Ndudi Ebi didn't make this scan. This is pre-editing. The entire bottom row is people who were missing from my collection as well.

OK, that last one looked terrible. I don't think I'll upload a full page again, lol.
I don't really do baseball, but I HAD to get Dan Brouthers into my collection. He lived in and is buried in my home town.
