Thoughts on 17/s SLQ

In some respects it looks great. In other respects I have concerns: mainly how brilliant given appearent wear on skirt lines and eagle chest, and what I figure are hairlines on left side obverse.

If that is just the way they come, then score, but not expecting warm and fuzzy.

Thoughts on originality, if it would grade, and if so, what

If the photos are accurate, to me it looks like a cleaned au details coin. I would pass.

Photo is a bit challenging, but from what I can see, perhaps AU58, dipped at one time but not harshly so. Luster solid and no hairlines apparent from the photo, so I could see it grading . . . from the photo. In actuality . . . ?????

Nice coin. In any case, a solid 7070 coin if nothing else . . .

    High Au details cleaned imo.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Cleaned AU55-58 and I do see some hairlines on the obverse, but would likely still grade.

My guess would be AU-55/58 but there's no way I could tell you, from the photos, if it's been cleaned.

The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

It's a dipped AU with typical hairlines that often show up on AU coinage. However, the obverse appears to have enough hairlines all going in the same direction that it may have been wiped, as well.

I agree with TomB.... dipped and likely wiped....Likely will grade AU.... Cheers, RickO

Thanks to all for the inputs, confirming my thoughts with piece in hand. There is a return privilege so back it goes
