I am very sorry for your loss. I lost my mother in 2011 although she had really passed on a couple of years before that because of dimentia which left her with no way to communicate with the outside world. Losing your parents is always hard.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I am sorry to hear of your loss. It may seem like little consolation at this particular time, but it sounds like she left a great legacy. You are fortunate to have so many happy memories.
It is never the right time to lose your mother, and your loss definitely came far too soon. To paraphrase a famous author: don’t be sad that they are gone, be happy that they were here. (Probably not the words you need to hear right now, but perhaps someday they may help).
I'm sorry for your loss, I don't have a 1945 coin to post but I wanted give you my condolences, I lost my mother in March of this year. Its hard but it gets better, try to focus on the good times. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Thank you, one and all. I truly never expected this amount of love.
you all are great!
As I wind through things, I will get back online more. Right now, my time and attention is largely elsewhere.
@Dave99B - thank you for the effort of digging that out. I had forgotten that, while she liked the WLH design, she had attempted, probably due to her mother, to collect the Mercury Dimes...and they were one of her favorites as well.
I need to find a photo of one I had purchased, also a 1945, from Airplanenut a few years back and post that picture.
Again, thank you all. I know others have gone through the same, and worse, though I truly hope that no one has to go through it like this (there are things I am not posting that make it worse than it should have been at the end, but this isn't the right time nor place to discuss those issues).
Not to many female collectors in those days. It's interesting that you, as a collector today. have those special memories of your mom and grandma. Cherish those special memories and remember those good times

The loss of a parent is very difficult, but time will bring
healing soon. Your mother & I were born the same year.
I've lost both my parents long ago and my wife is undergoing
chemotherapy now. These are all part of life. I wish you a
speedy recovery from these trying times.
She sounds like a good woman. Sorry for your loss. I wish I coin to post. When my Dad died, I found it helped to take little mental vacations away from the sorrow. It's OK to distract yourself for a few hours with something you like doing. Try to do that...it helps.

Ron -
So very, very sorry to hear this. I lost my mom 18 years ago, but I think of her EVERY SINGLE day.
Your mom raised a good son. May she live in your heart forever.
I just have one 1945 coin, so I dug out for her. 1945 was clearly a very good year.
This Merc is very blue, which is likely how you feel right now. Anyway, here's a quickiPhone pic, in her honor. Bless her heart.
Take care -
Dave
