I know they won't slab and I know they are considered damaged coins.... but
there are some cool holed coins out there.
I picked this one up for less than 100 bucks and love it.
Care to show any if you have em ?
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"

Now that's a coin that doesn't need an introduction.
Hole or not, she is what she is....a coin that just is!
they will fit in a slab

Perfect coin IMHO.
I really don't think anyone (purposely) messed with this beauty.
Interesting
I didn't know they would slab, thanks for the info.
Thanks Raybo
Of course it was done purposely, how do you accidentally put a hole in a coin around 12" that looks to fit a necklace through it?
Holed coins have a certain kind of charm (pun intended).
Nothing wrong with liking holed coins... and yes, sometimes you can find them in slabs too

Okay!
The coin was not cleaned or anything else to make it look better for resale.
I would buy this coin in a hot second!
Another beauty!
Couldn't resist, purchased for melt.

I have several holed coins in my 7070 set. It's a set intended to be a conversation piece that I don't have to be too worried about.
The holes merely add to the conversation. "Why would the mint make coins like that?"
My key chain coin. 1879-CC.
My Adolph A. Weinman signature
Lots of trimes
Holed coins can still be very interesting... holes were made often for jewelry... but also, many times (especially old copper) they were nailed above a front door -the superstition was 'to welcome money in'.....Cheers, RickO
Finally completed a PCGS graded set of $2.5 gold Indians with a holed and slabbed AU details 1911 D -strong D. The only holed coin in the group. Sigh.
Poor thing...
@ScarsdaleCoin
For my own info, what is the value of holed 3 cent silvers.

I actually got a holed coin in change for the first time the other day. It was a circulated clad Washington Quarter. Got it at a 7-11 in Queens, NY. I spent it in another part of Queens the same night.
Sorry my holed coin story isn't more exciting but it's all I've got....
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Just like @HoledandCreative, I could probably bury y'all in "holey" coins, so I'll just post my two latest newps.
"Penny-farthing Pedal Pusher"
"Where's the Fire?"
Oh, OK, might as well post a few "blasts from the past" from the old Holey Gold Hat, too...
Cool !!
@1630post value depends on the date if it's a common like a 1851 then $5-$10 would be retail but a rarer date like 1864 could fetch several hundred retail ez
If you collect political tokens, a hole can be a good thing. It shows that the piece may have been used during the campaign and was not a restrike that was made after the election was determined.

I had one of those, too.
Only Mint State Flyer I've ever owned.
MS ... details, that is.
@illini420 - I LOVE that slab!
I was hoping you saw this thread LM
Now I own it!
My collection includes several holed coins, some of which are very rare in any condition. I value the pieces for their original surfaces (no incentive to "improve" an already "ruined" coin) as well as the very fair prices for the Net grades ( because, who, besides the respondents of this thead wants to buy "ruined" coin?)
Nice coins guys

Classiest. Keychain. Ever.
Did I sell it to you, or did it pass through some other member's hands in the interim? I have no exact recollection of selling that coin, though I know it must have been in my Great Purge of 2013, when even my holeys ended up on the block. (Only a handful of coins plus my detector finds album survived the Great Purge.)
@ScarsdaleCoin
Thanks for the info on holed prices

C mint gold I picked up for right at melt. The hole made people not even look at the auction. I ended up selling for a decent profit.
