Revelatory breadth and depth any dilettante (moi) or specialist should value as seminal and definitive.

Cataloguers !!! Tie any of these to a Brayzher doubloon or Regulated coinage and you've got an easy half-page.

As others have said, the Rose publication, which is titled "Chopmarks"; originally published in '87 and with a reprint in the early 2000's. If you have the choice, locate the original, as the image quality is superior.

Since it has not been mentioned, "Chopmarked Coins - A History", by Colin Gullberg was published a few years ago. Essentially an updated version of the Rose book, covering primarily the rarity of various host coins w/ chops, but also chopmark types, history w/ respect to trade, etc. Much better images as well.

Also, the "Chopmark News" back issues can be purchased directly from Mr. Gullberg for relatively little, and a subscription to the publication is inexpensive. The issues currently being produced are as long as 50 pages (and are distributed digitally, primarily). A lot of information included as well, including new discoveries and ongoing research by members of the Chopmark Collectors Club.

Yes, the Chopmarked Collectors Club does have an index of chopmarks. Colin Gullberg can hook you up.

Thank you! I have had the Rose book for some time; l am interested in acquiring the Gullberg book. I recently viewed Gullberg’s talk at the A.N.A. , but the video was made some five years ago.
