Meet my fellow board members past and present at the BBCE booth each day at 2pm
Attend the PSA luncheon
Go to the Net 54 Party
Attend Topps Q&A
Drink too much at Gibsons and end up hanging out with Keith Miller and Manny Sanguillen and call Daryl Strawberry on the phone. It happened.
Edit to add Mike Eruzione was there too. Then we all hit Rivers Casino.
I admit that I do enjoy reading the replies to CrissCriss posts, just as I enjoy reading the comments section to the daily Lavar Ball articles on espn.com.
This will be my first National in many many years. There is a chance I could make a significant purchase (for me!) Do most dealers still prefer cash? I am not that wild about wandering around Chicago with a pocket full of cash!

Many well heeled folks taking a year off. Expect light sales. Grading business will be strong though.
Well shave me belly with a rusty razor. how on earth know ye such things? be ye a big-time bilge rat or a scab with little repute or collecting ambition. each year, ye talk big like ye will attend national and then never show up at thee tavern with our favorite hags and bassik wenches.
argh yer fortunetelling is useful like crabs in me britches

I know for a fact that fewer tables were offered this time than the last Chicago National. The auxiliary room which as recently as 2011 or 2013 had dealer tables will not be used, except for maybe corporate tables.
so it will actually be used, but this area will only be dedicated to corporate tables this year for bassik organizational purposes.
and thats what you gauged your 'less' tables jargon on?
eta: and what was the cost of said table this year vs 2011/13?

For some reason, I couldn't stop laughing after reading this. I'm still laughing while I'm typing this.

I didn't attend in 2013 or 2015, but in 2011 it was used as the Olympic memorabilia area. 50 tables in the space and about 80% of it was reserved for dealers that wanted to set up with (almost) exclusively Olympic related merchandise and memorabilia. It was a joke and I felt bad for the handful of standard card & supplies dealers set up in there. It was literally an area you walked through once and never went back to!
It was also used for something special in 2008, I was there, but don't recall what... but then too, it was a visit once and don't bother going back through space. I honestly don't even remember if it was used for dealer tables in 2005. I think they had autograph areas back there then too, I could swear that was where Dwyane Wade was signing when I got him.
All in all, the show is huge. The space, and amount of tables, for "quality" dealers is pretty much exactly the same as it's always been for Chicago. We're talking about 40-50 fewer tables, that weren't generally impressive to start with, for a show that still has the same amount of corporate space and over 500 dealer tables claimed.
That's like complaining that the new $1.4MM LaFerrari only gets 15.9 miles per gallon than the 16.0 miles per gallon the model from 3 years ago established. Asinine at best, and utterly pointless.

Despite this, I think I'm flying in for early setup on Tuesday and out Thursday morning. That's pretty much the show anyway.
Awesome, I'll swing up there Thursday afternoon, I have about 29 Bowman Mantles to get graded, a bunch of 52's and 53's. And would you believe they are all still in those rack packs and visible Can't wait to see people drool over them!!!!
