My latest gold submission. Any guesses or thoughts?

Just submitted these 3 coins. The 1905 is an s/s. The 1851 has a nice die crack. Would it be a retained cud? I did not submit it as one, but might be able to get them to change that if it is. Any thoughts on grades, or if they will even grade? All are getting trueviewed and in doily holders. I am including my pictures, the seller's pictures, and the pictures from the auction he bought it from on the 1905-S. It's crazy how different it looks in all three pictures! I also have a submission of error gold coins that shipped to NGC the same day, so it will be interesting to compare grading times.

The pictures of the '05S certainly do vary a great deal.... Which one best represents 'in hand'?? Overall, nice gold coins... Cheers, RickO
I like the 1851 $2.5 the best of the three. I am skeptical of the other two. If gradeable the 1905-S is an EF as is the 1851 $2.5. No idea on the Indian and I'd say 50/50 it straight grades.

I would say the first and last pictures, depending on how the light it hitting it. The toning can look dull at some angles, then really pop when the light catches it right.
The 1928 has the same look as one I just got back a month or so ago from PCGS, and it straight graded. Came from the same seller too. I think the color is ok, it will just depend on whether or not they think it has been cleaned. Here is the last one.. and how the toning looks in TrueViews:

Nice coins....good luck...the variance in the photographs is why I don't like to risk much at auction these days on coins not seen in hand...keep us posted with the results!!!
Grades just popped today. Any more guesses? Trueviews are not up yet, but I will post them when they are.
35?
For which of the 3?

If the coins all straight grade, they all look XFish to me.
Here are the trueviews. I think they turned out great!

The 28 is beautiful, /58.
Here are the grades. I was thrilled they all straight graded!
1851 $2.50 XF45
1905-S/S $5 RPM FS-501 XF45
1928 $2.50 AU53
Im much more comfortable with the coloration after seeing the Trueview images

How cool.. good...grades...
On the 1905, the second set of pics looks sort of close to what it might look in hand? Can you post a video or something else to compare how the colors look?

Nice. I had a draft saved from when this thread started. I was in the range, but not exact. So I never guessed, and am happy for you. I love the die crack on that '51 .
When it arrives I will make a video. It really depends on the light. When it catches it right, it does pop pretty good. I have another $5 Liberty at PCGS still that is a LOT more toned... I hope it straight grades as well. Here is the video for that one:
Cool vid. Thanks! Did this coin get slightly under graded?

They are different coins. The one in the video is currently at PCGS, and going by how long the last submission took, it will be done in several more weeks. The one in the video is a lot more toned, and in better condition. It actually has nice luster, unlike the XF45 that just posted. I will make a video of the first one when I get it back.
The difference I see is that the recently graded $5 has color that sits "in" the coin vs. the one in the video shows color that sits "on" the surfaces of the coin almost like a oil slick.
Could be just the lighting and photos but I would always be apprehensive and skeptical about toned gold especially with abrupt coloration changes and splotchy patterns, unnatural colors and color that sits like a film on the fields vs. being layered and embedded within the surfaces.

Here is a video of the one pcgs just graded:
Hopefully you will like the look of it better when it gets trueviewed. The colors look so different depending on lighting, who's taking the pictures, etc.
Grade just popped on the 1901-S. Environmental Damage
What does that mean? Don't they say Questionable toning if they think it's AT? I'm not sure how the environment can damage gold..
Sorry to hear about the 1901-S they all are beautiful coins
