I've always liked this date and find the low grade examples appealing...
I got this today from a friend for $20. It seems like a lot of coin for the money.
I'm not planning to slab as it doesn't seem like a good idea money wise. Just a nice coin to have raw.
I have a grade in mind and wonder what you guys think...

My opinion is XF45 which If slabbed is selling in the range of $80 to $100. A good buy for sure at $20.
VF35
35 to 40 for me. Can't beat 20 bucks!!
XF40, common and you overpaid!
EF give or take; problem surfaces imo, no luster, irregular toning.
Xf40.
XF40. Obverse has 45 details but reverse looks a little weak and the luster isn't there.
XF40
Looks XF35
Does he have anymore that he would like to sell?
45 if there is enough luster in hand
37.7, plus or minus 3.2

And nice looking surfaces. A great buy at 20

40 is my floor with about a 50% shot at 45.

That coin will grade VF35. There is nothing irregular about the toning. The toning looks fine, as do the surfaces.
PS...Nice looking original coin.
Nice coin- I'm in the VF35 camp.
I think 40. I like the look.
I'm in the 35 group. Nice looking coin.
Nice pickup!

XF 40 +.
Easy to see why this year is high Dollar in high grade. They're just not out there in the wild. Nice specimen, though.
Thanks everybody! These guesses are exactly what I was thinking. I'm calling it a VF30. I am conservative, even with my own coins. I agree it's possible to get an XF. I'm happy with this new addition.

Yeah verily, yet another 35

VF35.... nice old Morgan... seen some commerce... likely bought a few beers.... Cheers, RickO
Cleaned a little to remove the wear marks, maybe ms60?
Remove wear marks?
EF-40. I don't think that there is much, any luster in the protected spots so that is as high as it can go.
There actually is the ever so slightest luster in the devices, but it's impossible to capture in the picture.

Then it might qualify is a "classic EF-45." Those coins tend make AU-50 in the holder these days.
At any rate to trick is to find this coin in strict Mint State. That is really hard. There loads of "sliders" (Choice AUs) around.
EF45 wouldn't hurt my feelings.
Maybe one day I'll send it economy.

On a reassessment, with a bit more luster and less wear it would net out at MS62 I'd think. Not MS63 though as the price guide shows those skyrocketing in flight at the higher, lofterier grades.

Great date and MM. 40.
Solid EF-40, decent shot at 45.

That's the type of look I like on seated material. I'm in the 45 camp on this one
That camp's about to get raided by the AU folks.

My guess is 35, maybe 40
Many of us gripe about grade inflation, but it isn't that bad...yet.
