Been wanting to photograph this for years!

Paul Manship https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Manship
Sculptor, medalist, and portraitist.
Created 2 Inaugural medals: President Roosevelt's first term and John F. Kennedy's.
The reason for my post is not for those medals, but instead to point out a beautiful piece done by Paul Manship that resides on the corner of Vineland and Hollywood Blvd.
It is called "The Flight of Europa"
No plaques or identifying markers make note of the artist, construction date, name of the piece, or anything!
Its just there for people to walk by, and occasionally the homeless to clean off into.
I love it.
Pass it often.
And since my Inaugural Medals collection is my favorite collection, I always admire it.
Happy Weekend!

Interesting ...
I own both of those medals and knew that Paul Manship designed both of them. I recently read that it took 12 strikes from the large hydraulic press at the Philadelphia Mint to bring up the relief on the 1933 FDR medal. FDR's portrait is in very high relief. The fountain and stature are interesting too. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Great looking inaugurals...
The first 50 of the FDR 1933 Inaugural were marked by Medallic Arts and bring more than the non marked ones struck at Philadelphia. Still looking for the 1941 and that one has two varieties.

Nice piece of art!
neat medals and an impressive sculpture. There are smaller versions, about 2 feet long, in museums around the country.
Love the sculpture! Thanks for the history lesson.
Nice!
Thanks for the nice comments about my medals! I've been very selective.

Nice medals and it must have been a little chilly that day.

Manship was one of those American medalists, much like deFrancisci, whose work vanished from museums and galleries after their deaths.
I like your new commercials. You are a natural.
Very cool indeed!

Way nice. It's too bad about the homeless people bathing in this beautiful place.
Paul Manship also entered designs for the competition for the Irish Free State
