He uses filters on all of his pictures. I wouldn't buy something from him with your money.

Report the listing. I think he violates eBay policy when he includes price guide values for certified coin grades/guides when his coin is uncertified.

Reported... that seller has tons of questionable material, but that takes it to a whole new level. It is sad people like that can make a living preying on the ill-informed.

One has to be gifted to make photographs of coins appear as though they were cut out of old comic books or are perhaps still glowing after being poorly stored inside Chernobyl's melting core.

One of many items also offered is this "Gem" nickel that was kicked out of the Leprosy Commune for excessive scabs.

That is awful. I hope Ricko covers his eyes when he sees this thread. lol

Just a random question: Does the coin collecting community look down on people selling artificially toned coins if they are clearly labelled as such?

My favorite line from his description: "There are various techniques that when done professionally can be used to artificially induce coloration on to a coin that produce results where the major grading companies will grade the coin as having natural toning."

Most collectors do not approve of any intentional alteration to a coin as well the people who alter them and sell them.

People collect Dan Carr/Moonlight Mint products. Judging from some of the threads here, he appears to have several die-hard fans so I wouldn't say "most" collectors do not approve of alteration if disclosed. Bizarrely, his following has caused ICG and ANACS to start grading his fantasy overstrikes with straight grades despite the fact that the pieces are indisputably altered coins. That suggests that my observation regarding the size of his fan base is revealing.
