Humble brag is not a good look. Pretty sure there are a ton of millionaires on here as well as those who collect, but are smart enough and humble enough that they don't use that to try and win a debate. Humility, kindness, generosity, charity... are much better traits to have in life versus "I have more money or can bench more than you." Just a though to help with your common sense.

Now that we got thru all the commercials...name calling...bluffing...bragging about one's status (to have status in a baseball card society you must own a '51 Bowman Mantle and a '52 Topps Mantle...full disclosure I have no status....and don't tell me how many zeros you have behind your name when determining status...that doesn't count here...please can we get back to the poker game and the last few hands in order to determine who takes home the big pot. The over/under is being set at $50,000 for a 1965 PSA-10 Frank Robinson. At this point in the game...all chips must be left on the table...no more bluffing allowed. I say over $50,000.

sigh, not the snipe "debate" again with Dpeck. I always enjoy your input on other topics, but your view on sniping is simply off base. I'm not saying the majority rules, but at some point if you're the only guy on the side of a debate, you need to step back and really examine your viewpoint.

We will agree to disagree. I will just say everyone who disagrees only snipes so without using other methods how can they say I am wrong? I have dropped bids with 8 seconds, 5 seconds, and 3 seconds and still the same outcome. Highest bid wins.

    I say over 50k.

David, you are absolutely right that a snipe will do nothing for you if you're up against somebody else who has or will place a higher bid than your snipe, whether that person places the bid on day 1 or in the last 3 seconds. You often bring up this scenario, but you're attacking a straw man. The strength of sniping is that it protects against certain forms of shilling (incremental bids, etc.) and eliminates the possibility of placing an early bid and running the risk of having someone else bid it up. Are there any guarantees? Nope. People can still shill a snipe, manually bid past a snipe, or outsnipe a snipe, but what is the advantage of divulging any information (i.e. your bid) until the last possible minute?

However, I agree that we can agree to disagree. Like I said before, I always enjoy your input on the boards. Keep it up and I'm confident you'll eventually come around on this issue :)

No one has ever claimed anything but the highest bid wins. But depending on when you place that highest bid, you will either a) win the auction b) lose the auction of c) win the auction and not give someone else the opportunity to run up your bid. In any case, nothing negative can come about when sniping and in some cases, you may wind up saving money, too.

ETA: And enough with the W2 foolishness, too, lol...

First a humble brag about the W2, and then an arm selfie when asked about his bench? This has to be a troll post right? Over/under on an ATM receipt showing the checking account statement has to be pretty high. :D

Arm pic yes Kendall. W2 statement in response to having no common sense no. Your W2 if your an employee is your score card or report card and in the real world it matters.

The only good deals I've gotten on a ebay auction was dropping a big bid early. I figured it was due to a snipe failure. Happen a few times.

    Hi, Derek.

    Whoa, calm down, man.
    I'm just joking.
    You guys, I really like
    your guys' setup up here.

    What is your problem, man?

    My problem? I don't know.
    I don't have a problem, Dale.
    Actually, I have the opposite
    of a problem:
    I made over 550 K last year.
    How much did you make?

    • It's not about money.

      • No, it's not about money.
        Well, for me,
it's a little bit about money...
        ...and I made
        that much money last year.
I am the VP of the biggest...
        ...executive-helicopter-leasing
        company on the Western Seaboard.
        Okay? I haven't had a carb
        since 2004.
        Check these out. See these?
        See these boys?
This is what I live with.
Every day I lather this up
        with Kiehl's in the shower.
