That's true. But you could also have bought one share of Amazon yesterday and sold it today with one click for $4.95 and bought 8 ozs of silver free and clear with the profits. It doesn't have to be all or nothing

Indeed. Even having certain "index " or "sector" funds can cause one to participate a little in AMZN's long term rise without having much overall risk.

Unless one is psychologically dead set against such funds, in which case no amount of math, logic, history, or other reasoning will overcome the emotions

Just think....If you had purchased 10k shares of AMAZON @ $1.50 in May 1997, instead of gold or silver, you would not be wasting your time posting on this forum. I also missed the boat on that one. :'(

If your going to go that route you could have purchased Bitcoin for .05 cents each in 2011, put in $100 and your at over $7mil right now.

I have no idea, I'm just saying that you can always look back and see what you missed out, but at that moment nobody knew what it would do or everyone would've done it.
In either case if I would have bought at those low prices I would've been out of both positions by now.

Yeah $1.50 is a perfect world scenario. However people have been trashing this stock or shorting it since it's been at $100. That was the first real convicted entry to buy and hold. That would would be pretty good as well. It would be the same as buying silver at $10 and having it go to $110.

$1200 and 305x earnings. Amazing what an Internet middleman is worth these days. :o

In other news the Nasdaq closes in on 7,000! Up an average of 10% annually for 25 years in a row now! It is nuts if I do say so myself.

15% if you held it over a year, less than a year and it is taxed as regular income.

Morganman is correct. If you sell in a self directed 401k even the better. Everything is taxed the same rate upon withdrawl down the road regardless

You also have to look at the net premium you pay on the buy/sell side on platinum. That can often sting. The spreads can be wide. Most of my stock trades are free. At the most $4.95 whether it's 1k or 100k of stock. Low transaction costs and easy in and out

They don't make $12 after the adjustments They have to get there 45 minutes early and leave 45 minutes late to go through the security or to get from the parking area to the building , thats an unpaid hour and a half. And they get docked pay for 100 minor offenses . Plus $12 isn't anything now , when I got out of high school I had no bills , the kids today spend a lot more on things that they think are are important . We can laugh at them for have $150 cell phone bills but they were trained to spend and consume relentlessly from the day they plopped out of the womb.

Whhaaa whaaa whaaa.....millions of folks commute 45 min or more everyday and they dont get paid for doing so.. Just because you have bills doesnt mean I should pay you more. And folks should get docked for doing something wrong. This isnt rocket science. Pay attention, do your job, do it well, and move up the ladder. Thats how it works.

    Fact check time..

45 min wait....LMAO!!! Looks more like 90 seconds.

I don't know of any Platinum mines in the US. However, the average salary for a US based Miner is over $22 an hour + in some cases, free med. & dental insurance.

Below is the most recent S. African Platinum Miners wage scales in Rands ..... $1.00 = 12.46 ZAR
