Not surprising and the EBay bar will clear well north of $3000. People knowing there is only one shot at at one bar and the other bar off of the market will drive the sale

It ends Tuesday morning, not a great day/time to end an auction so we'll see.

    It's up to $1435........I'd imagine it'll make $1800.

Good morning everyone. Just to let y'all know the big offer I received was a person fishing I guess. I have several 2500 offers but realistically I'll be happy with whatever the Auction does. Hope y'all have enjoyed seeing a true rarity. Thanks for everyones thoughts and opinions

Wow! Fun to watch the auction! Congrats on the sale... I'm still hoping to find one out in the wild. :)

OP should be ecstatic at close $.

Typo'd Subject line, Description riddled with typo's and bad grammar. Auction style listing ending before noon EST.

You literally have to work at to make this many mistakes.

So the %20 haircut (fees,PP) he will take off of the $2500 offer he was made up front should be considered a win.

EBAY AND PAYPAL FEE CALCULATOR show a net of $2059.61 BEFORE the OP springs for free shipping.
Not bad for a 2 known bar. There are many 2 known bars on AE site that have sold for less. IMO there will be more Colonial Bars to appear down the road, just as some "one known examples" within the Engelhard series are now 2 known and more.

OP could have made a better killing if sold privately. Nicely done regardless.

Did a member here acquire it?

As I said before when u have 4 kids running around typing on a computer from a forwarded email there is bound to be mistakes. It served its purpose and the only people worried about the writing are the ones who didn't bid. So no you do not have to work at it to make that many mistakes but you obviously get being a prick honestly. All of that wasn't needed.

FYI I turned 1800 down because I'm being advised by a very knowledgeable collector. I was offered $2500 for the bar not already in auction. Ty for everyone's input. And KnockOff? Not hardly. Silvertowne Engelhard bars sell for excess of 5k with 100known. There are 2 of these. No derogatory remarks plz

Gotta save some of these before possible deletion... no silvertowne E bars 10oz have ever sold for excess of 5k...

Some pretty petty people have posted in this thread, knocking the op.

Other than their own egos, and pettiness, I'm not sure why.

Congrats to the op. Glad you are happy with the results.

Slow down there snowflake. OP posted on public message board about the bars.
Then the discussion devolved into a "Golly gee , what are they worth?"
"I have this amt offer (unless someone here beats it!")

so it became an in-house BST auction thread pretty quick. Was he trying to sell it here?
OP said he was getting offers, just none high enough so he posts the ebay auction (link provided, you can bid too! yay!)

So I went to take a look and commented appropriately.

But I think the OP has inadvertently stumbled upon a away to showcase items you want to sell in their own threads.
Who needs BST now, just start a gee shucks thread (then later add comments that show you now plenty about bar value!).
and then Ebay that bad boy for all to bid.

    Got it.

    Snowflake? Yeah, right.

I see it differently....I usually jump on people who turn "what do I have?" threads into "now I am selling...come and buy" threads.

I didn't see that here. I saw a question, people being negative, person putting it up in a true auction, and letting people see how it went.

If the OP had posted asking what he had, gotten to the point of the offer by these 'allengelhard' folks, and dropped the thread there....and then just posted on ebay and didn't come back around, there would be people not knowing/wondering. I wonder, given all those fantastic/supportive posts in this thread, how many folks from this thread bid on the bar? How many from this forum were expected to bid on it? Probably almost a nil amount.

I then saw more negative, pisssy commentary by certain people.....borderline (at best) attacking the OP because of misspellings in the ebay auction.

"commented appropriately"? LOL Good one. Commented to demean someone and try to make yourself look better, maybe. That's how I read your comments. There was no need for them except to poke at the OP and/or make yourself look sooooo brilliant.
You are like some of the others here. You will nitpick something because it makes you feel good and makes you feel like you are better than others. There is a time, and a place, for that....usually when asked or when there is something riding on it.....or as a joke.

I'll get off my "soapbox" now, as the OP obviously doesn't want the thread continued and I have said my piece. I just get tired of such negative people, as you were in this thread, who think they are obviously better than others and it is their calling to chastise others for spelling mistakes....and that you can read someone's mind and intent and so it is your "duty" to call them out on it. Time. Place.

OP should have just sold it privately for 2500, then went on a public forum and announce it sold for 3500 and said "I have one more available, who wants it?"

I thought it would have sold for more. Now at least we have price discovery. Very useful thread. We should be thanking the OP

Because BOTH bars have now been sold and this was a glorified BST thread to begin with.

Linking your ACTIVE ebay listing to this thread could be easily perceived as "indirect marketing". Had you linked the ebay listing after its completion, then this might have been less of an issue. Just my 2 cent piece.

The OP did not link the auction, somebody else did.
